Kent “Bob” Gabourel of the Kulture Megabytes team and the BFSC El Pescador team came out big winners in the Weekend Warriors cycling club national road championships on the Hummingbird and George Price Highways, as Gabourel finished solo in the road race at Leslie’s Imports in Belize City on Sunday, June 12.
Bob Gabourel had ridden the 68 miles from the Sibun Bridge on the Hummingbird Highway, to the finish line at Leslie’s Imports, coming in solo. Bob punctuated his dominance of the competition by getting off his bike and carrying it across the finish line, much to the amusement of his teammate Vallan Symns who rode in 2nd.
Andrew Vasquez of the BFSC El Pescador team from San Pedro finished 5th behind Daniel Cano – 3rd and Barney Brown – 4th.
Alicia Thompson also of the Kulture Megabytes team finished 8th and was the first woman rider.

Ed Blank and Lisa Berger, both of the BSFC El Pescador team, were 2nd and 3rd in the C Division 52-mile race from the Belmopan roundabout with the Hummingbird Highway to Leslie’s, behind Enrique Morales of the Caribbean Tires team clocked 3:00:55 for 1st place.
