SP Boot Camp offering fitness and self-defence lessons
Sunday, June 26th, 2016
There is a Boot Camp in San Pedro Town promising to build strength, endurance and agility. This new fitness program incorporates cardio, circuit training, aerobic exercises, and flexibility. With workouts modelled after old-school military training, it has the added bonus of a self-defence technique known as Krav Maga.
Facilitated by Eddy Stanzer at Zen Arcade, the Boot Camp invites you to try a class for free. Stanzer recently moved to Belize from Israel. He has vast martial arts experience with a solid background in Tae-Kwon-Do, Point-fighting Kickboxing, Full Contact Kickboxing, Boxing and Krav Maga. According to Stanzer, boot camp classes are designed to help individuals achieve results in the quickest time possible. “It is a body weight form of exercise. We don’t use weights. It involves classic, modern exercises mixed with cardio elements. If you want to lose weight, get fit and make friends in a flexible workout program, then boot camp is your place,” he says.
The results may vary depending on a person’s current health status, however the loss of weight and fitness is guaranteed. Of course, the intriguing prospect of learning Krav Maga is a draw. According to Stanzer, it is a realistic hand-to-hand combat self-defence technique. It is consider the most effective real- world fighting system, originally developed for the Israeli military, and now the preferred system for the United States military units and law enforcement agencies. Its quick counter-attacks and brutal offensive techniques make it the ideal fighting style for dangerous and unexpected situations.
“No fancy kicks, no katas, and no rituals,” said Stanzer. “This training method was designed to enable ordinary men and women to protect themselves in the shortest time possible. It is not martial arts, but a fighting system focused on protecting yourself.”
San Pedro Boot Camp classes are specially designed so that the individual becomes stronger and healthier. “Work out hard, push your personal limits, and keep an eye on your diet, and you will see the difference in a short time,” says Stanzer. He encourages everyone to give the program a try.
