San Pedro Pirates win 2-1 against BDF, escalates to the third position

The San Pedro Pirates F.C managed to claim another victory against Belize Defense Force (BDF) during the eleventh week of the 2018-2019 opening season of the Premiere League of Belize (PLB). Held at the MCC Grounds in Belize City on Sunday, October 28th, the island team came out victorious with 2-1 score, gaining three more points in the PLB chart and moving to third place in the tournament standings.
The match began at 4PM with the island team determine to take victory. They nailed their first goal at minute nine of the match courtesy of Edwardo Oliva. The ball was then equally distributed with no goal seeming to be in sight. The first half ended with a 1-0 lead for the Pirates.
After the break, both teams came back aggressive, aiming to score goals to take the victory. At minute 56, BDF’s Latrell Middleton found his way to the goal scoring for his team. Shortly after, Pirates’ Jesse Smith was able to net another goal for his team. Down by one goal, BDF tried their best to score more goals, however Pirates goalkeeper Rugerri Trejo was able to block all attempts. With the game time up, the long whistle blew, giving the island team a 2-1 victory.
The currents standings of the PLB have Belmopan Bandits and Verdes F.C at the top with 27 points each, followed by San Pedro Pirates with 16 points and Police United F.C with 14 points. Following the top three is Wagiya F.C and Altitude Assassins F.C with 14 points each, and Freedom Fighters F.C with 10 points. At the bottom of the chart is Belize Defense
Other matches taking place during the weekend saw Freedom Fighters F.C defeating Waiya F.C 3-1, Verdes F.C winning 2-1 over Altitude Assassins F.C and Belmopan Bandits and Police United F.C ending a 4-4 draw.
For their next match the San Pedro Pirates will be travelling to Cayo District to face Verdes F.C on Sunday, November 4th. The game is schedules to start at 4PM at the Norman Broaster Stadium. For more information on how to accompany the Pirates as a fan, you can contact 623-0772.
