Alysha Reymundo, a San Pedrana footballer, will represent her island and country as an Under-16 national football team member. The team is currently in Managua, Nicaragua, competing in the Central American Football Union (UNCAF) championship under the auspices of the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) for U-16 girls. They will face off against Nicaragua, El Salvador, Cuba, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Panama teams.
Reymundo is a well-known young footballer from San Pedro. In addition to football, she also participates in other sports, such as volleyball. She has participated in local football tournaments on the island as she continues pursuing her passion for this popular sport. Reymundo has experience with national teams, having been a member of the U-15 team that competed in a tournament held in San Jose, Costa Rica, in June 2022.
Reymundo is proud and happy to represent her hometown of San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, and her country. She has been a member of the junior San Pedro Pirates team. Her family, friends, and the island’s football community wish her and Team Belize the best of luck in the UNCAF tournament. Reymundo and Team Belize will face off against El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Panama in the first round.
The first game against Nicaragua took place on Wednesday, November 6th. Despite Team Belize’s efforts, they lost to the host country with a score of 2-1. Nicaragua scored first in the 13th minute of the match. Belize tied in the 68th minute of the second half. However, the Nicaraguan team continued to press, and they scored a second decisive goal in the 85th minute, securing the win.
