The Inter-Office Football Tournament concluded on Sunday, December 22nd, culminating in an exciting match where Team Ramon’s Village Resort emerged as this year’s champions. The final game of the season took place at Ambergris Stadium, where football fans were entertained with two exhibition matches prior to the main event.
The first exhibition game kicked off at 5PM, featuring Los Gaseros against SP Veterans. Los Gaseros showcased their dominance throughout the match, leaving the experienced Veterans unable to secure a victory. Ultimately, Los Gaseros achieved a decisive win, having thoroughly controlled the game.
At 6:30PM, the second exhibition game began between the Old Generals and the Young Ballers. The younger players put forth a strong effort, presenting a significant challenge to their senior counterparts. However, the experience of the older players ultimately prevailed, and they won the match after an intense competition against the younger team.
The championship match began with a brief formal ceremony as Ramon’s Village and Alaia took the field. At 8PM, the game kicked off. Both teams launched aggressive attacks, making several close attempts to score, but neither found the net in the opening minutes. Near the end of the first half, Alaia attempted to penetrate Ramon’s defense but was unsuccessful. In response, Ramon unleashed a series of shots near the goal, yet they, too, could not find the back of the net. As the first half concluded, the score remained tied at 0-0.

The second half of the match was much more intense, but neither team was able to score a goal. Both teams were determined to win the championship, and as the game approached its conclusion, they began preparing for the possibility of penalty shots in the event of a draw. During the match, Alden Augustine, also known as AC, seized the anticipated opportunity and scored the only goal of the finals. Minutes later, the long whistle signaled the end of the match, and Team Ramon’s Village Resort emerged as the champions of the 2024 Inter-Office Football Tournament.

Following the conclusion of the championship match, Councillor Adaly Ayuso and her committee presented individual awards to the players. Ian Pou Jr. from Hol Chan Marine Reserve received the award for Most Goals. Abrianna Sierra from Ramon’s was honored with the Best Female award, while Kristan Puerto from Ramon’s was recognized as the Best Goalkeeper. The trophy for Most Valuable Player was awarded to Alden Augustine, known as AC.

After the individual awards, Team Alaia was presented with the second-place trophy, acknowledging them as the tournament’s runners-up. Subsequently, Team Ramon’s Village Resort celebrated their victory as the 2024 Inter-Office champions, accompanied by a fireworks display.

The competition organizers, including the San Pedro Town Council and Councilor Ayuso, expressed their gratitude to all 16 participating teams and the fans for their support throughout the tournament. The football competition will return in 2025, and aspiring teams are encouraged to start preparing for the upcoming season.
