San Pedro’s multi-talented athlete Alysha Reymundo has begun a new chapter in her education and football career at Motlow State Community College in Tennessee, USA. Reymundo has been training with the college’s football team, the Motlow Bucks, ahead of their upcoming season in the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA).
The island’s football community continues to wish Reymundo all the best while following her new journey abroad. Reymundo said she is grateful for the opportunity to attend Motlow State Community College and thanked everyone who has supported her along the way.
According to the Motlow coaching staff, they have been following Reymundo’s development since 2023, when the college’s football team visited the island. They expressed excitement about welcoming Reymundo to the Motlow family and said they will assist her as she adapts to her new home, school, and team.
Reymundo’s opportunity to study and play football with the Motlow Bucks has served as an inspiration for other Belizean athletes. Her achievements in the sport and the scholarship awarded by the Tennessee college have also been commended by many in San Pedro Town and sporting organizations across the country, including the Football Federation of Belize (FFB).
The FFB said it has supported Reymundo throughout her football journey, including her participation in its youth development tournaments and national youth team programs. “The FFB continues to support her now as she ventures into another chapter of her football journey. Alysha’s story has just begun, and with the proper guidance and support from her family, her football family and the FFB, she will continue to accomplish great things as she continues to proudly represent Belize,” the federation noted.
The talented young athlete has demonstrated perseverance and resilience throughout her sporting career. At age 13, Reymundo joined the San Pedro Pirates Football Club female team, which finished as sub-champions in 2021. Her potential caught the attention of the FFB, and she was called to join the Under-15 national team. Reymundo was later recruited for the Under-16 and Under-17 national teams. She has also excelled in several other sporting disciplines, including volleyball, basketball, softball, and track and field.
The San Pedro Sun wishes Reymundo continued success at Motlow State Community College and a successful season as she represents her new team in the TCCAA.
