Another round of matches in the Over 35 Football Tournament saw Old Boys FC and E & L FC continue their strong performances, with both teams securing victories during Week 6.
The matches, held on August 28th at the Ambergris Stadium, started at 7PM with Old Boys taking on San Mateo FC. Old Boys dominated from the opening minutes, quickly finding the back of the net. San Mateo attempted to respond through their midfield, but Old Boys maintained control and doubled their lead. From there, the goals continued as Old Boys gave San Mateo few opportunities to respond.
By the end of the first half, Old Boys held a commanding 8-0 lead. San Mateo subsequently forfeited the second half, giving Old Boys the 8-0 victory.
The second match of the evening saw Caye Caulker and E & L FC battle through a scoreless first half. Both teams created several opportunities during the opening 45 minutes but were unable to find the back of the net.
E & L finally broke the deadlock in the second half with a long-range strike from the left side of the pitch. Caye Caulker responded by increasing the pressure, but E & L capitalized on another opportunity to extend their lead to 2-0.
Despite the deficit, Caye Caulker continued fighting and pulled one back late in the match. A few minutes later, the visiting side found the equalizer with a powerful shot that beat E & L’s goalkeeper, bringing the score to 2-2.
Caye Caulker continued pressing in search of a third goal and the victory. However, it was E & L that found the decisive goal, securing a hard-fought 3-2 win over Caye Caulker.
The Over 35 Football Tournament continues this weekend with Week 7 action at the Ambergris Stadium. Matches are scheduled to kick off at 7PM.
