The Inter-Office Football Tournament is back, with 20 teams competing for this year’s championship title. The first round of matches took place on September 5 and 6 at Ambergris Stadium, drawing enthusiastic fans and delivering ten action-packed games over the weekend.
This season’s teams include Ramon’s, Chuck and Robbie’s, Altamar, Sandy Point, Bowen and Bowen, Captain Sharks, Victoria House, Tropic Air, Heaven’s Veggies, M & B, Mahogany Bay, the San Pedro Town Council (SPTC), Alaia, Alaia F&B, X-Site, Caribbean Depot, Elvis, Aruna, Costa Blu and Pro Divers. Matches began at 6PM on the opening night and continued from 4PM the following day.
The first game saw defending champions SPTC take on X-Site. SPTC dominated the match and entered halftime with a 3-0 lead. The defending champions added five more goals in the second half to secure an impressive 8-0 victory.
In the second match of the evening, Bowen and Bowen delivered another commanding performance, defeating Chuck and Robbie’s 4-0.
Mahogany Bay then faced Alaia in a closely contested match. Alaia took control early and led 2-0 at halftime. However, Mahogany Bay mounted a comeback in the second half, scoring twice to secure a 2-2 draw.
In the final game of the opening night, Caribbean Depot edged Tropic Air 2-1.
The second day featured another round of matches and drew more football fans, who cheered loudly for their favorite teams. The first game, played at 4PM, was between Elvis and Aruna. Aruna controlled the match and secured a solid 2-0 victory.
The following encounter also ended 2-0, with Captain Sharks overcoming Heaven’s Veggies.
The third game of the evening featured M & B against Altamar. Altamar took a two-goal lead during the first half. M & B attempted a comeback after the break and created several scoring opportunities but could not find the back of the net.
Instead, Altamar capitalized on weaknesses in the M & B defense and added two more goals, sealing a commanding 4-0 victory.
Costa Blu and Alaia F&B took to the field next. Alaia F&B dominated the opening half and scored twice in quick succession, leaving Costa Blu with a difficult task after the break.
Costa Blu managed to net its first goal in the second half. However, before the team could find an equalizer, Alaia F&B struck again with a powerful shot from inside the penalty area to secure a 3-1 victory.
Following a short break, Victoria House faced Pro Divers. Victoria House started strongly, controlling possession and scoring the opening goal. The team held on to its lead for most of the first half, but Pro Divers equalized shortly before the break. Minutes later, Pro Divers found another opening and scored its second goal to enter halftime with a 2-1 advantage.
Victoria House could not recover during the remainder of the match. Pro Divers scored twice more from attacks along the right side of the field, sealing a convincing 4-1 victory.
The final match saw Ramon’s deliver another dominant performance against Sandy Point. Ramon’s controlled the game and gave its opponent few opportunities to respond. The team scored twice in the first half and added two more goals after the break while keeping a clean sheet. At the final whistle, Ramon’s celebrated a comfortable 4-0 victory.
The Inter-Office Football Tournament continues this weekend with another round of matches at Ambergris Stadium. Everyone is invited to come out, support their favorite teams, and enjoy the football action.
