Inter-Office Football Tournament heads into Week 5

The Inter-Office Football Tournament is heading into its fifth week after another round of matches between teams representing island businesses and organizations. Games played on September 26 and 27 at Ambergris Stadium produced decisive wins, close contests and two draws.
Team Aruna opened the September 26 fixtures with a 4-0 win over Altamar. Caribbean Depot then edged Captain Shark’s 1-0 in a tightly contested match. Victoria House followed with a 3-0 victory over Mahogany Bay.
In the final match of the evening, Heaven Veggies defeated Chuck N Robbie’s 6-3. Chuck N Robbie’s pulled level several times, but Heaven Veggies continued to score and finished with a three-goal advantage.
Play resumed the following day with Team Elvis defeating X-Site. The match between Alaia F & B and Sandy Point was called off after a Sandy Point player experienced an emergency on the field. Alaia F & B was leading 3-0 when play stopped.
The San Pedro Town Council (SPTC) earned a narrow 1-0 win over Hol Chan Marine Reserve. Hol Chan had chances to equalize but could not convert them. Hyde’s and Bowen and Bowen then played to a 2-2 draw after Bowen and Bowen scored a late equalizer. M & B and Pro Divers also shared the points in a 1-1 draw. Costa Blu closed the weekend’s action with a 3-0 win over Tropic Air.
Tournament top scorers
Chuck N Robbie’s player Danira Tzul leads the women’s scoring list with three goals. Estella Pop of Heaven Veggies, Jamaya Taylor of Sandy Point, Myrane Hyde of Hyde’s, Martha Reyes of Captain Shark’s, Dianira Lopez of SPTC, Samantha Craft of Aruna and Abrianna Sierra of Ramon’s have each scored one.
Among the men, Aruna’s Gilberto Ewan leads with eight goals, followed by Pro Divers’ Joshua Moralez with six and Bowen and Bowen’s Milon Coc with five. Alaia’s Anwar Cowo has four goals.
Players with three goals each are Melvin Villanueva of Mahogany Bay; Vicente Olivares and Diegel Grelana of SPTC; Carlos Esquivel of Ramon’s; Rony Cartagena of Altamar; Robert Nah of Captain Shark’s; Darwin Alcoser of Heaven Veggies; Charlie Carillo and Ian Moh of Costa Blu; and Zaid Oliva of Victoria House.
The tournament continues on October 3 and 4. Matches begin at 6PM on Saturday and 4PM on Sunday.
