Two Club Atlético San Pedro Pirates FC players, goalkeeper Erick Rodriguez and striker Moises Hernandez, joined Belize’s senior national football team, the Jaguars, for the 2026–27 Concacaf Nations League. Belize opened its campaign with a victory over St. Maarten before falling to St. Vincent and the Grenadines at the Football Federation of Belize (FFB) Stadium in Belmopan.
The Jaguars are competing in League B, Group D, alongside St. Maarten, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and French Guiana. Belize’s opening match against St. Maarten took place on September 26th. Despite controlling play, the Jaguars couldn’t score in the first half. Nahjib Guerra broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute to give Belize the lead. The Jaguars continued pressing for another goal, but the match ended 1–0, securing their first three points.
Belize returned to the FFB Stadium on September 29th to face St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The Jaguars started strongly, building their attacks through the midfield, with Hernandez playing an important role. However, the visitors took an early lead when Andrew Johnson headed home a corner kick in the 10th minute.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines continued attacking and nearly doubled their advantage in the 36th minute, but Belize goalkeeper Woodrow West made a crucial save. West denied another close attempt before halftime, keeping the Jaguars within reach of an equalizer.
Belize created opportunities but could not find the back of the net. The visitors maintained pressure throughout, and the match ended 1–0 in their favor.
The result placed St. Vincent and the Grenadines at the top of Group D, followed by French Guiana and Belize, while St. Maarten remained at the bottom. The Concacaf Nations League also serves as a qualifying competition for the 2027 Concacaf Gold Cup.
San Pedro Players Represent Belize
Hernandez, the Pirates’ captain, has previously represented Belize, including during qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The club congratulated him on his selection, describing it as a reflection of his hard work, discipline, and commitment. “We are very proud to see one of our Pirates representing San Pedro and Belize on the national team,” the club said.

Rodriguez, the Pirates’ second goalkeeper, has represented Belize at the under-16 and under-17 levels. The club also celebrated his senior national team call-up. “Your hard work, dedication, discipline and commitment to the game are paying off,” the Pirates said.

The 2026–27 Concacaf Nations League group stage is scheduled across the September, October, and November 2026 FIFA match windows. The competition will conclude in March 2027 with the League A Finals and championships for Leagues B and C.
Belize’s next match is scheduled for October 3rd against French Guiana at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan.
