More than 50 participants of all ages joined the annual 5K Glow Run in San Pedro Town on Friday, October 2nd. Organized by the community-based 501 Run Club, the event brought together the island’s running community for an evening promoting health and fitness. Every runner who completed the race was recognized, while the top three finishers in the male and female categories received awards.
Participants gathered at Central Park at 7PM, where the event began with a one-block race for children under 10. Benaiah Esquivel finished first, followed by Alex Laird, George Dawson, Alexandria Castro, and Keon Sutherland.
The 5K race followed, with runners heading north along Barrier Reef Drive, continuing onto Pescador Drive, and then traveling south along Coconut and Seagrape Drives to the turnaround point at Mata Rocks Resort. Organizers and traffic wardens guided participants along the route as they returned to the finish line at Central Park.
Christopher Broaster was the first to cross the finish line, winning the male category with a time of 19 minutes and nine seconds. Kent “Bob” Gabourel placed second in 20 minutes and 44 seconds, followed closely by Jordan Santos in third with a time of 20 minutes and 46 seconds.
In the female category, Merlin Sansores once again claimed first place, finishing in 23 minutes and 14 seconds. Giselle Correa placed second in 27 minutes and 25 seconds, while Nayomi Alamilla finished third in 27 minutes and 57 seconds.
