Belize Brings Home Nine Medals from 2026 CODICADER Games
Belize earned nine medals at the 22nd Central American Student Sports Games, known as CODICADER 2026, held from September 4th through the 13th in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. The Belizean delegation included 183 student-athletes from across the country, who competed against more than 2,200 participants from Central America.

San Pedro’s Carla Rodriguez Retains Best Female Angler Title at Roatán International Fishing Tournament
A total of 18 Belizean fishing teams participated in the 27th annual Roatán International Fishing Tournament, held from September 10th through the 13th on the popular Honduran island. One highlight of the sportfishing tournament was San Pedro’s Carla Rodriguez, who competed with Team Carlie and captured the Best Female Angler title for the third consecutive year.

The San Pedro Pirates suffered their first defeat of the Premier League of Belize (PLB) Opening Season after facing Napoles in Belmopan on September 12th. The Week 7 match took place at the Football Federation of Belize Stadium, where the island team fell 3-1 in its second away match.

San Pedro Veterans hosted Chetumal Veterans of Mexico’s Club de Fútbol Ex DIF for a friendly match at the Ambergris Stadium on Friday, September 11th. The players, ranging in age from 40 to 50, showcased their football skills while promoting friendship and sportsmanship between the two neighboring countries. The island team delivered a strong performance, defeating the visitors 5-0.

On Saturday, September 5, 2026, members of the Belize Powerlifting Association (BPA) attended its Annual General Meeting with the intent to vote in a new executive for the 2026-2028 Term. Held at The 80’s Deck in Belize City, the meeting was a combination of in-person and online, with a full quorum met to ensure a vote could be held.
