The national team, known as the Jaguars, suffered a staggering 13-1 defeat in aggregate goals against Costa Rica, which is led by Mexican coach Miguel ‘Piojo’ Herrera. Since the loss, Belizeans have expressed their disappointment in the national team’s performance and are calling for changes. However, the Football Federation of Belize (FFB), through its president, stated on Wednesday, March 26, that there are no major issues within the team, and any minor problems will be addressed.

San Pedro Junior College heads to ATLIB National Football Championship

On Friday, March 28th, the San Pedro Junior College (SPJC) male football team will compete in Independence Village, located in the Stann Creek District, for the Association of Tertiary Level Institutions of Belize (ATLIB) National Football Championship. The SPJC team secured their spot in the championship by defeating Saint John’s College Junior College (SJCJC) with a score of 3-2 on Saturday, March 23rd, in San Pedro Town.

On March 17th, the Ambergris Stadium in San Pedro Town hosted a track and field youth race sponsored by the San Pedro Town Council Sports. The event aimed to promote athletics among the island's youth, highlighting the growing interest in track and field. Young athletes showcased their skills in various races.

San Pedro Pirates return home with another draw

The San Pedro Pirates Football Club (FC) faced a tough match on Sunday, March 16th, against Progresso FC, resulting in a 1-1 draw during an away game in Orange Walk Town. This outcome has caused the island's premier football team to drop to fifth place in the Premier League of Belize (PLB) standings following Week 9 of the tournament's closing season. The draw has jeopardized the Pirates' chances of advancing to the playoffs.

Belize Sports Outreach Hosts Annual Baseball Camp for Kids

On March 14th, Belize Sports Outreach hosted its annual baseball camp at San Pedro’s Ambergris Stadium. From 1PM to 4 PM, the camp attracted children and youth of all ages. This event was part of a broader initiative by the Belize Sports Outreach Ministry, which has visited Belize since 2018. The program aims to teach children the fundamentals of baseball and softball while sharing the message of Jesus Christ.

Ada Cordova and Elshaddai Bent complete coaching training with FFB

Well-known instructor and football trainer Ada Abagail Cordova and island coach Elshaddai Bent have gained new skills by obtaining Confederation of North, Central America, and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) certified coaching licenses. Cordova received her B license, while Bent earned his C license. These certifications enable them to coach and be recognized throughout the CONCACAF region, which extends from Canada in the north to Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana in South America.
