The San Pedro Town Council Sports is planning the upcoming 2024 sports calendar. The schedule of activities aims to provide the many talented island youth with the opportunity to explore their sporting strength. When the calendar is confirmed, it will include a set of sports disciplines with different sporting activities to choose from.

During the 33rd Krem New Year’s Day cycling classic, islander Kent ‘Bob’ Gabourel emerged victorious in the Masters 35+ Category on Monday, January 1st. Gabourel’s overall performance in the annual race saw him placing 14th as he proudly represented San Pedro riding in the Kulture/SPD Cycling group.

Islander Jesus’ Levi’ Contreras wins Placencia’s End of the World half-marathon

Jesus' Levi' Contreras, the 'Yellow Flash of Belize', returned to the island on Monday, December 11th, with the top trophy after conquering the End of the World half-marathon competition in Placencia, Southern Belize. Levi Contreras took on the challenge in the Male Category, finishing on top of the half-marathon (13.1 miles) at 1:18:33.

Belize’s Senior Women’s National Football Team returns home with a perfect 6-win campaign in the Road to the Women’s Gold Cup

The Belize Senior Women's National Football Team, the Lady Jaguars, are back in the country after a historic performance in this year's games as they continue their journey to qualify and participate in the upcoming CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup. The Lady Jaguars arrived in the country early on Wednesday, December 6th, and were greeted with parades and admiration from thousands of Belizeans, including schoolchildren, who came out to meet the champions.

Belize's female senior national football team, Lady Jaguars, claimed first place in Group A after defeating Bonaire 5-1 on Thursday, November 30th. The match took place at the Stadion Antonio Trenidat in Rincon, Bonaire. This is the fifth consecutive win for the Belizean female team in the 2023 CONCACAF Women-Road to Gold Cup.

First Garifuna Settlement Day Fishing Tournament awards top teams

The long holiday weekend commemorating the arrival of the Garifuna people to Belize was celebrated with the first fishing tournament in its honor. Held on Sunday, November 19th, the over-the-water bar and grill Overseas hosted the fishing rodeo, attracting close to 20 teams. The long-day competition saw some of the best anglers rom the island, but only one team could take the grand prize home. At the end of the day, team The Navy, manned by Kristian Marin, Jailene Ancona, and Guillermo Nuñez, were the winners. They also took the top prize for the heaviest fish (Wahoo, 39lbs) and top angler.
