Kian Trejo represents La Isla Bonita and Belize at International Athlete’s Forum in Switzerland

Island sports star Kian Trejo returned to the island after participating in the 11th International Athlete’s Forum held in Lausanne, Switzerland. The event brought together over 400 athletes to discuss important issues facing athletes across the Olympic movement as they prepare for upcoming Olympic tournaments.

Senior Female National Football Team, Lady Jaguars beat Bonaire 3-0

The Belize female national football team, 'Lady Jaguars,' won their second game on the road to the Confederation of North, Central America, and Caribbean Association (CONCACAF) 2024 Women's Gold Cup tournament. The Lady Jaguars hosted the female team from Bonaire on Monday, September 25th, at the Football Federation of Belize (FFB) Stadium in the Capital City of Belmopan, where they overcame the visiting team with a solid 3-0.

Female National Football Team takes on Bonaire today; San Pedrana joins the team

On Monday, September 25th, at 7:30PM, the Belize women’s national football team will take on Bonaire at the Football Federation of Belize (FFB) Stadium in the Capital City of Belmopan. Among the players from across the country playing in the team, San Pedro, Ambergris Caye is represented by Dennisa Pineda, one of the team’s goalkeepers.

Belize nabs its first three points in the CONCACAF Nations League after defeating French Guiana

The national football team, the Jaguars, are returning home with three points on the ongoing Nations League under the Confederation of North, Central America, and Caribbean Association Football, known as CONCACAF, after defeating French Guiana 2-0 on Tuesday, September 12th, in that country’s capital city of Cayenne. The Jaguars had previously been on the island of Martinique, where they fell short against St. Vincent and the Grenadines 2-1. The top teams will participate in the upcoming Gold Cup in the United States of America.

San Pedro’s Daniel Gregorio and his team BCG Net Zero wins 2023 BTB Love Belize Sea Challenge

With a total time of 37:25:26, team Belize Coast Guard (BCG) Net Zero, sponsored by Recinos Wine House and composed of James Alford and San Pedrano Daniel Gregorio, emerged as the top team in the Love Belize Sea Challenge kayak race. The race started in Punta Gorda Town, in the southern Toledo District, on August 22nd and ended in Corozal Town, northern Belize, on Sunday, August 27th.  The challenge, which was postponed a few times, saw six teams taking 218 grueling miles in the six-day race. Organized by the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) and Love FM, the event saw teams competing in the male, female, and mixed categories, kayaking along the Belizean Caribbean coast.

Gaby Nuñez Jr. joins Team Belize to compete in beach volleyball tournament in Guatemala

San Pedro’s very own Gabriel ‘Gaby’ Nuñez Jr. is in Guatemala City, Guatemala, along with Edgar Martinez, to represent Belize in the regional beach volleyball tournament, XXI Campeonato Centroamericano Mayor. The tournament is set from Friday, August 25th through the 27th, with athletes from Belize, Guatemala, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama.

501 Run Club hosts first 5K Glow Run

On Saturday, August 19th, San Pedro’s 501 Run Club hosted its first 5K (3.1 miles) Glow Run to celebrate its first anniversary and continue promoting a healthy lifestyle on the island. The activity organized by the community running club awarded the top three male and female runners, while all runners received a medal for their participation.
