Another islander hospitalized with COVID-19; infections on the rise

The latest COVID-19 infections across the country and in San Pedro Town continue to show a slow increase. With five new cases reported on Friday, July 16th, on the island, another islander was transported to Belize City via the Belize Emergency Response Team air ambulance for further medical attention.

Introducing Daisy Flores: the new administrator at Dr. Otto Rodriguez San Pedro Polyclinic II

San Pedrana Daisy Noelia Flores is the new administrator of the Dr. Otto Rodriguez San Pedro Polyclinic II. On June 29th she officially took the administrator position and she looks forward to working hard for the community and, together with the medical team, continue to improve their services for the wellbeing of San Pedro Town.

Abner Bacab certified as an Emergency Medical Technician

Island resident Abner Bacab continues to raise the bar of his dedication and service to San Pedro Town and recently became a  certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). For the past months, he’s been enrolled in a course facilitated by the Belize Emergency Response Team. Bacab participated in the practical portion of the training at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in Belize City, the primary referral medical institution.

Tourist airlifted back to the US after golf cart accident

On her way back from Secret Beach, a tourist was involved in a traffic accident on Wednesday, July 7th, sustaining extensive head trauma. The female patient was assisted by Rickilee Response and Rescue (Triple R). She was stabilized and then transported to Belize City via Belize Emergency Response Team's air ambulance. On Thursday, July 8th, she was flown to the United States (US) for further specialized treatment.

Triple R Evac donates medical supplies to San Pedro Town, Caye Caulker and BERT in Belize City

Rickilee Response and Rescue (RRR) Air Evac Emergency Response Team donated $1 million worth of medical supplies to the polyclinics in San Pedro Town, Caye Caulker Village and the Belize Emergency Response Team (BERT) in Belize City.

Belize Emergency Response Personnel receive the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) Certified Training in Emergency Care and Treatment (ECAT) in Disasters

Belizean First Responders from the Ministry of Health, Belize Emergency Response Team, Southern Emergency Services, Belize National Fire Service, Belize Police Department, and Department of Transport will participate in PAHO’s skills-based training course to improve their ability in providing emergency medical care and treatment to patients on the scene of an accident or emergency.

Triple R Water Emergency Response Team and BCG assist three islanders involved in boat accident

A boat collision on the lagoon side of Ambergris Caye on Saturday, January 26th has left 57-year-old island resident John Austin with a severely injured arm and two others with minor injuries. Providing assistance was the Rickilee Response and Water Rescue (Triple R) along with their Evacuation team, who took the three victims to the Dr. Otto Rodriguez San Pedro Polyclinic II.
