MSME Tax Amnesty Programme Extended United December 31, 2025
The Government of Belize, through the Office of the Prime Minister, in partnership with BELTRAIDE, the Investment Policy and Compliance Unit (IPCU), the Belize Tax Service (BTS), the Belize Companies & Corporate Affairs Registry (BCCAR), the Economic Development Council (EDC), the Ministry of Local Government and City/Town Councils, is pleased to announce the extension of the MSME Tax Amnesty Programme until December 31, 2025.

MSMEs Gain Relief Under Belize’s New Tax Amnesty
The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) officially launched the Fiscal Incentive MSME Business Tax Amnesty Program on September 19th in Belmopan. The initiative, supported by the Ministry of Investment’s Investment Policy and Compliance Unit (IPCU), the Belize Tax Service (BTS), BELTRAIDE, and the Economic Development Council (EDC), is designed to help micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) formalize their operations with the BTS.

Belize Investment Summit on Ambergris Caye Attracts Over 500 Guests
The 2025 Belize Investment Summit officially opened on Thursday, September 4th, at Grand Caribe Resort north of San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye. The biennial summit, the largest of its kind in Belize, brings together investors, entrepreneurs, and business leaders from around the world. This year’s event, held under the theme “Bridging Markets, Building Resilience,” drew more than 500 participants and highlighted Belize’s efforts to strengthen international partnerships and build a more resilient economy.

Belize Participates in First International Planning Meeting (IPM) for Expo 2027 Belgrade
Planning is officially underway for Expo 2027 which will take place in Belgrade, Serbia. Following the successful completion of the first International Planning Meeting (IPM) held in Belgrade on June 10 and 11, 2025, information on the objectives, structure, and opportunities have been outlined. Belize was represented at the meeting by Mr. Ishmael Quiroz, the Executive Director of BELTRAIDE, and Ms. Nikki Augustine, Manager for Marketing and Communications.

The European Union (EU) is providing a €2 million grant to support the Trade and Investment Facilitation Program in Belize, financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

Belize Introduces Moveable Property Secured Transactions Law and Launches Collateral Registry
The Financial Services Commission of Belize (FSC) announces a landmark step towards financial inclusion and economic growth with the enactment of the Moveable Property Secured Transactions Legislation (Act No. 21 of 2024). Effective November 25, 2024, under Statutory Instrument (S.I.) No. 150 of 2024, this legislation modernises Belize’s financial landscape by enabling movable assets to be used as collateral for loans and establishing the Secured Transactions and Collateral Registry (STCR).

BELTRAIDE Holds Consultations with Blue Economy Stakeholders to Improve Investments in the Sector
The Government of Belize has identified investment in priority sectors, as a key driver of economic development. BELTRAIDE is supporting the Inter- American Development (IDB) in building a strategy to attract foreign direct investment specifically in the Blue Economy, to complement existing business operations. The development of the strategy is being led by OCO Global, a technology based advisory firm focused on trade, investment, and economic development.

The Office of the Prime Minister and Ministry of Investment, in collaboration with the Investment Policy and Compliance Unit (IPCU), BELTRAIDE and the Economic Development Council, hosted an information-sharing and networking session with companies that are current beneficiaries of the Fiscal Incentives (FI) Program. The session took place at the University of the West Indies Conference Room, Belize City.
