Oceana promotes sustainable fishing with pilot project under the Fish Right, Eat Right initiative
On Friday, October 22nd, Oceana Belize rolled out a pilot project under the ‘Fish Right, Eat Right’ initiative, connecting restaurants with responsible fisher-folks. The campaign involves an app that allows restaurants and even customers to know what type of fish they are consuming and where it was caught. The main purpose of the initiative is to curb illegal fishing and promote best practices in fisheries by providing marketing incentives throughout the supply chain via the promotion of responsible seafood consumption.

On Friday, October 8th, San Pedro’s well-known philanthropists and entrepreneurs Kelly McDermott Kanabar and Mukul Kanabar received the Leader Worth Following 2021-2022 award. The award is presented to a visionary and outstanding leader dedicated to creating lasting change in their community and is inspired and challenged to become a leader worth following.

Blue Water Grill donates nearly $11K to Hope Haven
Hope Haven Children’s Home was the recipient of a monetary donation from Blue Water Grill (BWG) on Wednesday, January 8th. The donation, totalling $10,989.90, was collected from July through December in 2019 via the efforts of BWG and their sister companies, Wine de Vine, Red Ginger in Belize and The Phoenix Resort, including patron contributions.

Cancer warrior Xavier ‘Iggy’ Howells visits Belize
Two years ago, Xavier ‘Iggy’ Howells was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a cancer of the muscle tissue. Howells’ bravery in battling the deadly disease was rewarded with a visit to Belize. Made possible by Make-a-Wish Foundation, which provides wishes for terminally ill patients.

San Pedro R.C School’s first floor is tiled up and ready for the new school year
Thanks to a family of island businesses, San Pedro Roman Catholic School (SPRCS) first-floor classrooms are now tiled and ready for the new school year in September. The tile project was sponsored by Blue Water Grill along with its sister businesses, Red Ginger, The Phoenix Resort and Wine de Vine, and cost approximately 30,000 dollars.
