Unspecified streets to receive names; winning submissions awarded
The San Pedro Town Council (SPTC) launched a street naming competition in mid-August. Those participating were required to create a sign with the street's name. Several entries were submitted, and three winners were selected at the end of the competition. These included Karissa Vasquez, Dion Ingram, and Mike Garman.

Elvi’s Kitchen Brandon Munguia wins cocktail competition kicking off Carnaval de San Pedro
One of the most popular annual island celebrations, El Gran Carnaval de San Pedro, is currently taking place on the island, invading the main streets of downtown with a colorful jamboree filled with paint and popular street dances known as Comparsas. The festivities started on Saturday, February 18th, with a market day and cocktail competition at the Honourable Louis Sylvestre Sporting Arena. The event saw several booths showcasing local products and food for purchase. Those in attendance enjoyed a fun evening with their loved ones while visiting and consuming the products from the participating vendors.

Area Representative and SPTC host mobile health clinics, street rehabilitation, and clean-ups in San Mateo
On Saturday, February 18th, the San Pedro Town Council (SPTC) and Area Representative Honourable Andre Perez hosted a mobile health clinic in the San Mateo area where residents received free medical services. Some residents also joined the SPTC clean-up campaign, while some new streets were opened and others rehabilitated. According to the local authorities, similar activities will also occur in other subdivisions across San Pedro Town.

Councillor Ernesto Bardalez is San Pedro’s new Deputy Mayor; reshuffle of portfolios
The San Pedro Town Council has a new Deputy Mayor. The announcement was made on Thursday, September 16th, introducing Councillor Ernesto Bardalez as the second in charge of the town’s administration. Bardalez takes over from Dianeli Aranda, who was the first councillor to hold the post after the new administration was sworn into office in March of this year.
