50% of fans attendance now allowed at sporting events; fans must be vaccinated

After months of sporting events with no fans allowed due to COVID-19 regulations, the National Sports Council of Belize (NSC) has released updated guidelines for fan attendance at all sporting events. These include allowing spectators to attend games.

COVID-19 Curfew extended for another month

The current Statutory Instrument (SI) is due to expire on Saturday, January 15th. Although the recent number of COVID-19 infections is on a significant rise, Belizeans should not expect considerable changes. The curfew is one feature in the regulations that will continue for at least another month. The curfew remains at 11PM from Sundays to Thursdays and 12-midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

New SI allows sale of liquor after 6PM in stores

On Tuesday, November 30th, the Statutory Instrument (SI) No. 149 of 2021 (https://bit.ly/3xJETrb) pertaining to the COVID-19 regulations, was issued by the Government of Belize repealing a previous regulation (Regulation 27) which prohibited the sale of alcohol (liquor) after 6PM in shops and stores.

10PM curfew goes into effect tonight, November 22nd

As per the announcement from the Minister of Health and Wellness, the Honourable Michel Chebat, as of today, Monday, November 22nd, the COVID-19 curfew will start at 10PM. The new 10PM-4AM curfew is in effect Sundays through Thursdays, and on Fridays and Saturdays, the curfew will start 11PM.

COVID-19 regulations continue to restrict Publican’s Special liquor licenses

Another year is winding down, and stakeholders in San Pedro Town are again renewing trade licenses, permits, and liquor licenses. Most liquor licenses are renewable, such as Restaurant, Beer, Malt, Publican's General, and Shop. However, the Publican's Special is not yet available due to the current Statutory Instrument (SI) No. 136 of the COVID-19 regulations. This license applies to bars, which are not permitted to open under the current SI.

San Pedro Pirates FC beat Garden City FC at opening of FFB Top League tournament

With the ease in COVID-19 regulations pertaining to sports, the Football Federation of Belize (FFB) officiated three matches over the weekend in its national tournament dubbed FFB Top League. San Pedro Pirates FC traveled to the capital city of Belmopan on Sunday, October 24th, and grabbed its first three points in the competition after defeating Garden City FC 2-0.

SI mandates new policy for tour operators/guides and entry requirements for foreign visitors

The current COVID-19 regulations under Statutory Instrument No. 119 include specific requirements for foreign tourists entering Belize via the Philip Goldson International Airport (PGIA). The provisions also extend to tour operators and tour guides who must be immunized to provide their services to tourists.

Change: COVID-19 regulation mandating vaccination card or negative test applies only when accessing government buildings

The government has made changes to the new COVID-19 regulations set to start on October 1st. The new measures, designed to contain the spread of the virus, mandates that people provide proof of vaccination or a negative test to access public buildings and services. The new change, as per Minister of Health and Wellness Honourable Michel Chebat, will only apply to government-owned buildings.
