Changes to COVID-19 regulations include new curfew and measures for travelers from Africa region

As of Monday, December 6th, the new curfew is (as per Sunday through Thursday) is 11PM to 4AM and Fridays and Saturdays midnight to 4AM. Minors are not allowed to be on the streets after 8PM, unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. The other amendment will affect travelers entering the country from at least eight African countries following the new COVID-19 variant Omicron announcement.

10PM curfew goes into effect tonight, November 22nd

As per the announcement from the Minister of Health and Wellness, the Honourable Michel Chebat, as of today, Monday, November 22nd, the COVID-19 curfew will start at 10PM. The new 10PM-4AM curfew is in effect Sundays through Thursdays, and on Fridays and Saturdays, the curfew will start 11PM.

Ministry of Health & Wellness Announces New COVID-19 Measures

The Ministry of Health & Wellness hereby notifies the public that in an effort to help contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the curfew hours have been adjusted. Effective today, Monday, October 4, 2021, the curfew hours will revert to 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. daily. 

New COVID-19 regulations go into effect today

New COVID-19 regulations under the Statutory Instrument No. 106 of 2021 come into effect today, Monday, September, 20th and will be in effect for two weeks. One of the new measures is a countrywide 7PM curfew except for the main tourism destinations-Ambergris Caye, Caye Caulker, Placencia, and Hopkins. The exception will also accommodate restaurants in these destinations, allowing them to operate up to 75% of their seating capacity. At the same time, eateries across the rest of the country can only offer take-out services.

Belize prepares for stricter COVID-19 measures; makeshift hospital erected in the capital

News is that Prime Minister Honourable John Briceño will address the nation today regarding COVID-19 and introduce new regulations. As the country awaits the anticipated message, the situation with COVID-19 is worrisome, with an increase in cases and deaths. A field hospital has been erected at the University of Belize gymnasium to prepare for the worst and support the health department.

9PM curfew goes into effect on July 26th

On Monday, July 26th, a new curfew will go into effect from 9PM to 4AM. The new curfew is in response to the spike in COVID-19 cases across the country and is expected to be in place for two weeks.

Curfew extended for another month

The current curfew, Sundays to Thursdays from 10PM to 5AM, and Fridays and Saturdays-midnight to 5AM, will continue for another 30 days. The extension was announced on Saturday, May 15th by Commissioner of Police (ComPol) Chester Williams.
