Continuous flooding emphasizes the need for proper drainage on new streets

In San Pedro Town, recent efforts have been focused on addressing significant drainage issues and improving road conditions, which have been worsened by flooding from Tropical Storm Sara. Under the leadership of Mayor Gualberto "Wally" Nuñez and Councilor Ernesto Bardalez, the San Pedro Town Council (SPTC) is undertaking a multi-phase initiative to enhance drainage systems and pave roads across the island. Several neighborhoods, including San Pablo, DFC, and Escalante Marina Drive, have already experienced progress due to the ongoing road construction project. However, the lack of a proper drainage system on the newly paved roads continues to result in flooding in these neighborhoods, causing considerable discomfort for the residents.

Heavy rains cause flooding for residents in San Pedrito

Over the weekend, heavy rain caused flooding in the San Pedrito subdivision of San Pedro. A resident of a downstairs apartment experienced significant water damage due to overflowing rainwater resulting from blocked drainage. The San Pedro Town Council (SPTC), fully understanding the concerns of many residents about the lack of adequate drainage in the area, is taking immediate action to address the issue.

Heavy rains flooding San Pedro subdivision; better drainage systems needed

Even though the San Pedro Town Council (SPTC) has embarked on a project to pave the main streets across the subdivisions, the recent rainfall is affecting residents. Some claim that the lack of drainage along the cement streets is causing their yards to flood. SPTC indicated that the problem will be addressed as the project includes proper drainage and infrastructure to accommodate the utility companies and the neighborhoods.
