Hot and Dry weather expected for much of 2025
As the Caribbean enters its peak tourism season, the region is experiencing a mix of warm and dry conditions, with some areas facing drought. Belize, for example, is currently in its typical dry season, which lasts from November to April. During this time, daytime temperatures can reach up to 28°C (82°F), while nighttime temperatures typically range from 23°C to 25 °C (73°F to 77°F). This stable weather pattern is expected to persist, with minimal rainfall anticipated.

Farmers in Toledo District report huge losses after wildfires ravage the area
The current dry season combined with a heat wave is to blame for wildfires affecting several farmers in southern Belize. The uncontrollable flames have gutted entire farms, destroying acres of crops. Many of these farmers and their families are left without their primary source of income and need assistance to move forward in the aftermath of this natural disaster.

BEL Intensifies Countrywide System Maintenance Program to Combat Impacts of Extended Drought
The extended drought and seasonal dry weather conditions have been causing excessive dust build-up on BEL’s power lines across the country, resulting in numerous electrical faults and sudden disruptions of electricity service to our customers. Frequent outages have also been occurring in various parts of the country due to bush fires which damage the base of the pole structures of our transmission and distribution lines. In most cases, the time required to replace the pole structures damaged by such faults and fires can last anywhere from 2 to 8 hours.
