San Pedro Lions Club attends the Istmania Lions Convention in El Salvador
From May 23rd to the 25th, the San Pedro Lions Club, along with the Belize City and Belmopan clubs attended the 83rd Annual Lions Istmania Convention held in San Salvador, El Salvador. The Belizean delegation, which forms the Belize Lions Zone 59, was led by its Chairman, Lion Nigel Belisle, and accompanied by the zone's queen, Rebecca Paredes.

Belize congratulates El Salvador on peaceful election
Through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, the Government of Belize officially congratulated the people of El Salvador for the peaceful process of their recent presidential elections. The elections held on February 4th saw millions of Salvadorans voting in and from outside of El Salvador, including in Belize, where residents with connections with that country also voted.

El Salvador Approves Importation of Belizean Products
Following efforts by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise to open markets for Belizean products in El Salvador, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of El Salvador has informed the Belize Marketing and Development Corporation (BMDC) that a request for a pest risk analysis (PRA) for four commodities ─ carrot, citrus, onion, and pineapple ─ has been approved.

Three island female footballers join the UB Black Jaguars headed to the VIII Central American University Games
Islanders Caroline Sersland, Tanya Teul, and Dennisa Pineda traveled on Saturday, July 8th, to El Salvador along with their colleagues from the University of Belize (UB) Black Jaguars football team to participate in the VIII Juegos Deportivos Universitarions Centroamericanos (Central American University Games). The National University of El Salvador will host the regional sporting event held from July 11th through the 15th in the country’s capital. The competitions will see universities from Central America competing in ten different sports disciplines with more than 1,700 athletes.

The event, which experienced a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, serves to celebrate the independence day celebrations of five Central American countries and Mexico.
