Valentine’s Day Cleanup Highlights Ongoing Littering Concerns on Ambergris Caye
On Valentine’s Day, February 14th, the Ambergris North Alliance organized a community cleanup along San Pedro’s North Road. Roughly 45 to 50 volunteers gathered at four starting points: the Sir Barry Bowen Bridge, Grand Caribe, X’tan Ha, and Matachica, covering the stretch from the bridge to approximately nine miles north.

Holy Cross Anglican School inaugurates upgraded football field
Holy Cross Anglican School officially inaugurated its newly renovated football field on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 9AM. The short ceremony, held on the school compound, included an invocation by Fr. Dr. Kesner Ajax, the national anthem, remarks from Principal Mrs. Elsy Torres and RE/MAX Belize Holdings Ltd. representatives Will Mitchell, Dustin Rennie, and Trevor Stack, followed by a ribbon-cutting at 9:18AM, acknowledgements of special guests, and the presentation of tokens of appreciation to sponsors.

Second Cohort of SPICE Program Graduates Nine Students
The San Pedro Institute of Culinary Education (SPICE) celebrated the graduation of its second cohort of island-trained cooks on Friday, January 17th, at Holy Cross Anglican School in San Pedro Town. A graduation ceremony and celebratory dinner were held at the school, where graduates prepared and served a three-course meal for guests. The program is expected to continue later this year with its third edition.

Archbishop Wright Visits San Pedro’s Holy Cross Anglican Church and School
On January 14th, Philip Wright, Archbishop Primate and Metropolitan of the Church in the Province of the West Indies and Lord Bishop of Belize, made his inaugural school visit as archbishop to Holy Cross Anglican Church and Holy Cross Anglican School in San Pedro Town. Rev. Canon Barbara Rosado accompanied him.

Evening Shift at Holy Cross Expands Access to Education
Holy Cross Anglican School, north of San Pedro Town in the San Mateo area, is set to launch a new evening program on October 20, 2025, designed to meet the needs of children currently left on waiting lists due to overcrowded classrooms. This initiative, known as the Second Chance After-School Program, will offer learning opportunities to up to 40 students in Infant I, Infant II, and Standard I, introducing a shift system approach to provide learning opportunities, pioneering a shift system approach unique to the island’s education landscape.

PEACE Graduation Ceremony a Success: Over 200 Students Receive Certificates
The San Pedro Police Department, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology (MoEST), hosted the Positive Engagement and Civic Education (PEACE) graduation ceremony on Monday, June 24th, at the Lions Den. Two hundred thirty-one students from Holy Cross Anglican School and Isla Bonita Elementary School received certificates for completing the PEACE program.

Holy Cross Anglican School Celebrates 51 Graduates; 40 Already Accepted into SPHS
Fifty-one students from Holy Cross Anglican School (HCAS) received their primary school diplomas and are set to begin their high school journey. The 2025 graduation exercises were held on Thursday, June 19th, at Holy Cross Church, located at the entrance of the San Mateo Subdivision. The ceremony began shortly after 2PM.

San Pedro Institute of Culinary Education now accepting applications for second cooking program
Following the successful first edition of the San Pedro Institute of Culinary Education (SPICE) program at the Holy Cross Anglican School, which saw ten students graduate, a second class will begin on May 20, 2025. The organizers aim to host 12 students and equip them with professional culinary techniques. Classes will be held on Tuesdays from 4 PM to 8 PM for 30 weeks.
