On October 20, 2023, the Government of Belize convened a high-level meeting in Miami, Florida, engaging with top executives from leading member cruise lines of the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA).

Prime Minister Signs Loan Agreement with Saudi Fund for Development to Construct Tertiary Hospital

On May 30, Prime Minister Hon. John Briceño signed a US$45-million development loan agreement with the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) for the construction of a tertiary hospital in Belmopan. His Excellency Ahmed Al Khateeb, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Tourism and Chairman of the Board of Directors of SFD, signed on behalf of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

BTB Hosts 2nd B.O.O.M. Forum Under the Theme: A Dip Into The Future

The Forum is BTB’s annual signature conference with the aim to share major achievements, opportunities, and the future outlook for Belize’s tourism industry. Approximately 300 persons representing a wide-cross section of hoteliers, tour operators, educators, and industry partners from across Belize attended. The event was held under the theme, A DIP INTO THE FUTURE, and included presentations from top industry experts highlighting key marketing strategies in Belize’s major markets, artificial intelligence, tourism trends, sustainability, training, and human resources.

BTB Recognizes Two Outstanding Belizeans

The Belize Tourism Board (BTB) recently recognized Derick Hendy and Vianny Godoy, two outstanding Belizeans, for their dedication, hard work and excellent service to Belize, as part of its Frontline Hero Award program. Both persons received their awards last week from the Hon. Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism & Diaspora Relations.

The Minister of Tourism hands over Motorcycles and Bicycles to the Tourism Police Unit

On August 16th, 2022, the Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora Relations, through the Inter-American Development Bank and Government of Belize-funded Sustainable Tourism Program II, along with the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) handed over 8 motorcycles and 10 bicycles to the Tourism Police Unit at their headquarters in Belize City.

Hon. Anthony Mahler and the BTB contribute to Community Development

Four schools in Belize City benefitted from donations made by Hon. Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism and Diaspora Relations, and the Belize Tourism Board in the amount of $28,000. Contributions were made to the Belize High School Robotics Team and security camera systems were installed at Sadie Vernon High School, St. Luke Methodist Primary School, and Central Christian Primary School. The donations are part of BTB’s and Minister Mahler’s efforts to support youth-focused activities and create a positive environment for educational learning. 

Teakettle ATM Facilitation Center Inauguration

The Belize Tourism Board (BTB) officially inaugurated the newly constructed, Teakettle ATM Facilitation Center, on Monday May 30th, 2022 in Teakettle Village, Cayo. The inauguration of the ATM Facilitation Center marks the beginning of tourism growth and development within the village.  The ATM Facilitation Centre will serve as a media centre, gift shop, and resting area, for the thousands of international and local visitors that visit the nearby Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) Archaeological Reserve on an annual basis. 

BTB and APAMO sign MOU for greater cooperation in the sustainable development of protected areas

The MOU was signed at the BTB headquarters in Belize City on Wednesday, February 2nd by the Hon. Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism & Diaspora Relations and Mr. Jose Perez, Executive Director of APAMO. As part of the MOU, the BTB will develop a pilot project alongside APAMO to further develop areas of Sustainable Certification/Accreditation and growth.
