Mayor Daniel Guerrero supports Honourable John Saldivar for UDP party leader
The Mayor of San Pedro Town, Daniel Guerrero, has shown his support to Belmopan Area Representative, Honourable John Saldivar for the leadership post of the ruling United Democratic Party (UDP). On Sunday, July 12th, the UDP will host a second convention in Belize City to elect a party leader. The two aspirants for the post are Saldivar and Minister of Education, Honourable Patrick Faber.

Ministry of Education discusses the way forward on the re-opening of schools; 2020 high school graduates to be honoured in virtual celebration
The future of schooling in Belize was discussed by the Minister of Education, Honourable Patrick Faber, on Monday, June 8th, via a virtual press conference. Faber announced that the current school year would close at the end of this month, and schools are set to tentatively open for the new school year on August 10, 2020. The presentation also included the plans for examinations for students beginning secondary school and other exams for senior students in high school. In addition, a detailed plan to honour all 2020 secondary school graduates is set to take place virtually on June 21st.

The National Sports Council, Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports, and Culture, hosted the first annual meeting of the CODICADER Executive Committee where Costa Rica handed over the Presidency of CODICADER to Belize on Wednesday, March 4, 2020. Minister of Education, Youth, Sports, and Culture, Hon. Patrick Faber was present to receive this honor.

The Honourable Patrick Faber, Minister of Education, Youth, Sports and Culture and the National Institute of Culture and History notes the passing of Belizean Cultural Pioneer and Political Activist, Compton Fairweather O.B.E., J.P. Compton Fairweather was born in San Ignacio, Cayo on March 15th, 1931 and attended St. Paul’s Anglican School in Corozal, St. Peter’s in Orange Walk, St. Andrew’s in San Ignacio, St. Micheal’s College in Belize City, Belize Technical College, University of Maryland, and The City College of New York.
