San Pedro organizations coordinate fundraisers to help hurricane victims in Belize City
Following the passage of Hurricane Lisa over Belize, non-profit organizations in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, have started to organize fundraisers to help those affected by the storm on the mainland. Caye Caulker and San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, were spared minimal damages. However, several residents’ homes in Belize City were heavily damaged, and some need significant repairs. Many persons remain in shelters, some of these shelters are schools, and because classes are to resume on Monday, November 7th, the sheltered individuals may need to relocate.

San Pedro honors ten amazing women with the distinction of ‘Champions of Change’
While over the weekend, many were focusing on the royal visit by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Belize, on Saturday, March 19th, the San Pedro Town Council and Hope Haven Belize honored ten outstanding island women for their significant contributions to the community. The special award ceremony was in honor of Women's Month and dubbed 'Champions of Change.'

San Pedro Town engages the community with activities against Gender-Based Violence
Activities marking the beginning of the 16 days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence started last Thursday. They continued over the weekend with training for men and women on the same topic. Other scheduled events leading to December 10th include a ‘Women in Business competition,’ a mass, police meet and greet, and an Information Day is offering free legal advice, among other services.
