Lion Man Gordon prepares for the first-ever run around the country challenge

Island marathoner Ian ‘Lion’ Gordon is preparing for another historic sporting milestone that will see him running the country's breadth and width. Dubbed ‘run around the country,’ Gordon will attempt to accomplish the challenge in eight days from April 27th to May 3rd, beginning in Corozal Town northern Belize.

At this year’s Women Day on Sunday, March 8th, islander marathoner Ian ‘Lion’ Gordon was in the city of Cancun, Mexico, competing at the ‘Maraton de la Mujer,’ where he once again proudly represented Belize. A day after, he was back in Belize, where he claimed first place at a five-kilometer run in his age- range (40-49) and third place overall.

Another marathon and another medal for island runner Ian ‘Lion’ Gordon

Islander Ian ‘Lion’ Gordon ran his first marathon of the year after participating in Veracruz, Mexico on Sunday, January 19th. Gordon competed in a 13.1- mile half-marathon and placed 241st out of more than 9,000 competitors.

December 2019 was a very busy month for island marathoner Ian ‘Lion’ Gordon, after participating in four consecutive marathons in Belize and Mexico. According to the island runner, this is a record for an athlete around his age (42), as he continues to pursue his dream to someday represent Belize at the Olympics.

With the goal of participating in the 2024 Olympic Games to be held in Paris, France, island resident Ian ‘Lion’ Gordon continues to participate in several local and regional races. In his latest two races in Belize, he placed first in Placencia Village and second in Belmopan City.

On Saturday, August 24th island runner Ian ‘Lion’ Gordon placed 2nd in a 20k race held in Belize City. The race was organized in commemoration of the Belize Defense Force Sports Day in Belize City and saw 25 people participating in three different categories (5K, 10k and 20K).

Ian Gordon nabs another victory, seeks sponsorship for upcoming race in Mexico

Ian ‘Lion’ Gordon participated in and won another race in San Ignacio Town, Cayo District on Saturday, June 8th. The 20K race was organized by Mass Gym in San Ignacio and saw the participation of six runners.

Ian ‘Lion’ Gordon continues to make his mark at international marathons

Gordon recently placed 30th out 160 competitors in the 40-49 age category at the XX Gran Marathon Pacifico Mexico race held in Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico on December 1, 2018
