Prime Minister Holds Critical Discussions in Mexico
On Wednesday, 13th November 2024, Prime Minister Hon. John Briceño traveled to Mexico City to chair a meeting of COCESNA (the Central American Air Navigation Services Corporation) as the pro tempore chairman of that organization. The Prime Minister also seized the opportunity to lobby support for the candidacy of CEO Kennedy Carillo to sit on the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) Board, a specialized agency of the United Nations.

Belize hosts 12th Annual North American, Central American, and Caribbean Directors of Civil Aviation Meeting in Placencia
On Tuesday, July 9th, the Ministry of Civil Aviation showed appreciation to the Central American and Caribbean Directors of Civil Aviation (NACC/DCA12) at a conference held in Placencia to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Convention on International Civil Aviation. The meeting was convened to discuss practices to improve aviation security and facilitation. The conference brought together approximately one hundred individuals from across the Caribbean, including North and Central America, who convened in Belize for the first time to discuss the sustainable development of the aviation sector.

COCESNA endorses Belize’s CEO of Civil Aviation as Central American Candidate to the ICAO
At the 262nd Ordinary Board Meeting of COCESNA held in Madrid, Spain, on March 19, Prime Minister Hon. John Briceño presented Kennedy Carrillo, CEO in the Ministry of Blue Economy and Civil Aviation, as Belize’s candidate to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for the period 2025-2028. CEO Carrillo’s candidature was unanimously endorsed by the Central American member countries on the COCESNA Board.
