Group of four rescued after boat overturns near Tuffy’s Channel

On Friday, June 21st, at 3 PM, it was reported that a local boat captain, along with three tourists, was on a dive tour when the boat capsized and overturned in front of Isla Bonita Yacht Club at Tuffy's Channel. Alfredo Rubio, the boat captain and tour guide of Tropical Wind Tours, discovered the incident and immediately contacted Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Abner Bacab from Island Emergency Services (IES) to help the four victims.

IES partners with God Cares Outreach and donates supplies to island Law Enforcement Officers

In partnership with God Cares Outreach, the Island Emergency Services (IES) recently donated personal protective equipment and supplies to various departments on the island. The purpose of the donation was to help protect the workers as they perform their duties, keeping them safe and minimizing the impact of hazards. The donated supplies included body bags, full-body gowns, face shields, gloves, KN95 masks, disinfecting wipes, and hand sanitizers.

Island Donors Squad holds first Blood Drive

On Saturday, April 6th, the newly formed coalition Island Donors Squad (IDS) held its inaugural blood drive at the Ambergris Hope Hospital in downtown San Pedro. Island resident Tacogirl Laurie Norton, who has ten years of experience in helping to organize blood drives, spearheaded the event. The goal was to increase blood collection in San Pedro, and the drive was a success, collecting 11 pints of blood.

Team Belize Pro Dive Center wins 3rd Annual Easter Sunday Kayak Race

In this year's Easter Sunday Kayak Race, Jessie Smith and Daniel Gregorio, kayaking for Belize Pro Dive Center, won first place. Eighteen teams paddled to Secret Beach from downtown San Pedro in the third edition of the annual competition.

Island Emergency Services is now offering free services to Belizeans

The management and team of Island Emergency Services (IES) has announced that its ambulance services are now free of charge for Belizeans on the island. IES is a private 24-hour emergency company funded by Mr. Abner Bacab, and it is equipped with ambulances to respond to medical emergencies on the island. This decision comes from IES’ commitment to the well-being, health, and wellness of all local community members and providing professional, pre-hospital care for those in need.

On Wednesday, February 28th, Island Emergency Services (IES) received its second ambulance. They are excited to let the San Pedro community and tourists know they are fully equipped and ready to serve.

San Pedro members of the Belize Coast Guard undergo first responder training

A group of eight members from the Belize Coast Guard (BCG) based in San Pedro Town recently underwent a two-day training to learn basic first aid and life support techniques from the Island Emergency Services (IES) crew. The training covered Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid Kit, and an introduction to advanced knowledge of the duties expected from first responders and other medical skills. The training took place from February 11th to February 13th at the BCG base south of Ambergris Caye and was free of charge.

Island Emergency Services donate first-aid kits to first responders agencies in San Pedro

Island Emergency Services (IES) management has donated valuable first-aid kits to other responder agencies in San Pedro Town. The island-based ambulance company indicated that this is one of the many ways to collaborate with their island counterparts and help distribute essential equipment that can enhance the safety of islanders.
