Belize Diving Adventures offers scuba diving training to public officials

On Thursday, March 5th, local tour company Belize Diving Adventures (BDA) began its first scuba diving training session for public officials.

2019 Kids in Action continue to learn about the environment and ecosystems of Ambergris Caye

Every Saturday for the past month, 2019 Kids in Action (KIA) have been participating in educational trips, learning the importance of protecting and preserving the environment and marine life of Ambergris Caye. On Saturday, September 14th, the KIA children had the opportunity to explore and learn about the Mexico Rocks Marine Reserve, located inside the Hol Chan Marine Reserve.

2019 Kids in Action (KIA) continue to learn about the importance of protecting and preserving the environment and marine life of Ambergris Caye. On Saturday, August 10th, an educational field trip was offered for members of KIA to various parts of the Hol Chan Marine Reserve.

Kids in Action 2019 Youth Summer Diving Program receives donations

The annual summer program is possible thanks to the contributions of different institutions on the island, and so far it has received its first set of donations. A $3,300 cheque from the Hol Chan Marine Reserve (HCMR) will go rowards purchasing material for the activity, while the Diver Alert Network-DAN has confirmed their contribution by providing insurance to the participants of this year’s event.

Kids in Action tackle Boca del Rio during National Coastal and River waterways clean-up campaign

On Saturday, October 6th, Oceana in Belize hosted their 27th National Coastal and River Waterways Clean Up campaign across the country. This year, the clean-up reached Ambergris Caye, where the organization teamed up with a group of environmental advocates known as Kids in Action (KIA).

33 New Divers graduate from Kids in Action Summer SCUBA Diving Camp

Through Kids In Action, the island has new scuba divers who are expected to stay active and volunteer in future programs with local institutions like the Hol Chan Marine Reserve.

Island students return from diving summit in Roatan, Honduras

Martin, Bowden, Mejia and Requena, all shared that the NABS/YES diving summit was the experience of a lifetime. Not only did they make new friends, but they also learned more about diving and the marine environment.

The Youth Scuba Kids in Action Summer Camp aims to teach and certify youth in diving so they can better appreciate the natural marine natural resources surrounding Ambergris Caye.
