Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine available in San Pedro; Pfizer available for pregnant women
Islanders getting their vaccine against COVID-19 can now request the Johnson & Johnson dose at the vaccination center at the Lions Den on Barrier Reef Drive. Pregnant women are now eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine at the island’s vaccination center as well.

While on holiday with their families on Ambergris Caye, Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) Negar Saidi-Johnson and Cardiologist Dr. Jorge Alvarez, both who work at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, USA, generously donated their time to volunteer at the MOHW COVID-19 vaccination clinic in San Pedro.

With the news that a variant of COVID-19 is in the country and infections are on the rise, the Government of Belize (GOB) launched a vaccine campaign urging as many Belizeans as possible to get the jab. BCVI conducts first eye exams on the island since the pandemic
After months without the monthly eye clinic at the Lions Den, a complimentary service offered by the Belize Council for the Visually Impaired (BCVI), the clinic resumed on Wednesday, May 5th. The free eye exams provided on a first-come basis take place every first Wednesday of the month.

The Bonefish and Tarpon Trust (BTT) organization held an informative presentation for fly fishing guides and interested islanders at the Lions Den in San Pedro Town on Monday, September 30th. The organization presented recent findings on the evaluation of fishing flats in Belize and Mexico, conservation needs in Ambergris Caye and the importance of a sustainable approach to the management of these valuable coastal assets.
