San Pedro Lobster Fest block party returns with a blastÂ
The first block party in honor of the lobster season since the COVID-19 pandemic was held on Saturday, July 9th, Â at the Honourable Louis Sylvestre Sporting Complex. The annual festivity included the highly anticipated week-long Lobster Crawl that culminated with a fantastic party, complete with gaily-decorated restaurant booths offering savory bites of lobster dishes, and unique cocktails to wash them all down. A highlight of the evening was a food and drink competition.

The 2022-2023 lobster season has officially opened, and San Pedro Town celebrates the occasion with the annual Lobster Festival. To kick off the festivities, a Lionfish tournament marked the beginning of the event in tandem with the famous Lobster Crawl.

Lobster season opens; fishers on Ambergris Caye report pirates raiding their traps
With their first lobster catch of the season, fishers made their way to their docking areas in San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, on Friday, July 1st. Although they harvested hundreds of Caribbean Spiny Lobsters, many complained that their fishing sites were raided by persons referred to as 'pirates.' They urged the respective authorities (Fisheries Department and Belize Coast Guard) to do more to deter such activities affecting their livelihood.

Lobster fests in San Pedro and Caye Caulker are back this year!
After a pause in outdoor events due to COVID-19 restrictions, the lobster fest celebrations are back in San Pedro Town and Caye Caulker. Both organizing committees have announced the dates, with Caye Caulker festivities scheduled July 1st through the 3rd. In San Pedro, festivities start with a lionfish hunt and lobster crawl beginning on June 30th, culminating with the usual block party at Central Park on July 9th.

Calendar of events for the San Pedro Lobster Festival announced
While Caye Caulker is not hosting their annual lobster fest due to COVID-19, the anticipated event, which celebrates the opening of the lobster season, is set to take place in San Pedro Town. On Friday, June 11th, the San Pedro Lobster Festival committee announced a schedule of events revealing the different venues of this year’s Lobster Crawl. Traditionally this culminates with a block party at Central Park; however, there will be no block party this year.
