Republic of China (Taiwan) Donates Face Masks to the Ministry of Health

In a brief ceremony on April 16th, the Minister of Health Hon. Pablo Marin received, on behalf of the Government of Belize, 60,000 face masks from the Government of the Republic China (Taiwan) through its Ambassador to Belize H.E. Remus Li-Kou Chen.

Cuban Medical Professionals Help Belize Fight COVID-19

On March 25th, Belize welcomed 32 members of the “Henry Reeve” International Contingent of Cuban Health Professionals who are specialised to assist in times of disaster and pandemics. The donation was a joint effort with the Embassy of Taiwan in Belize to promote a healthy lifestyle. The equipment will be installed in a public area and made available to island residents at no cost.

Cannabis controversy – MOH explains its position on farming cannabis for export

It has been revealed that the Minister of Health, Honourable Pablo Marin, has signed two letters allegedly supporting the establishment of cannabis and hemp farms in southern Belize to develop medical products for exportation. While this news caused much controversy, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has clarified that these contracts are not related to the legalization of marijuana in Belize, as the cultivation of the plants in question complies with the Misuse of Drugs Act.

San Pedro PolyClinic receives three tuk-tuk emergency vehicles

3 tuk-tuk vehicles donated by Dubai, UAE, have been assigned to San Pedro Town to serve as ambulances on the island. 1 has been assigned to Caye Caulker.
