Ruby’s Hotel sold to San Pedro Belize Express Water Taxi Company
One of Ambergris Caye’s oldest beachfront accommodations, Ruby’s Hotel, has been purchased by the San Pedro Belize Express Water Taxi company. The idea of having an active water taxi terminal at this location is raising concern among residents and local institutions, due to its proximity to the San Pedro Roman Catholic School.

Aero Mexico launches direct Belize flights
Belizeans may now fly direct to Mexico City D.F., and by the same token Mexicans can now visit Belize, thanks to a new direct weekend flight introduced by Aero Mexico on Saturday, November 17.

BTB announces $1.5 Million sargussum relief fund & tax reliefs
The Government of Belize has granted $1.5 million to help contain and control of sargassum in the municipalities of San Pedro, Caye Caulker, Placencia and Hopkins, which will be disbursed through the Belize Tourism Board. Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation Hon. Manuel Heredia announced GOB’s assistance and other tax reliefs at a press conference the BTB offices in Belize City on Wednesday afternoon, October 31.

United States and Belize Sign Open Skies Air Transport Agreement
On October 16, 2018, U.S. Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Keith Gilges and Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation Manuel Heredia signed the first bilateral Air Transport Agreement between the United States and Belize.
