Ministry of Transport and Belmopan City Council Host First National Traffic Conference

The three-day conference focused on streamlining and standardizing traffic management systems across municipal and national authorities. Traffic managers will develop a new Handbook of National Policies and Procedures for the issuance of driving licenses and vehicle registration and licensing, as mandated by the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act.

Belize’s Under-18 National Women’s Football Athletes to Participate in U.S. Government Sports Exchange

Athletes from Belize’s under-18 women’s national football team and their coach will travel to the United States for a sports exchange through the U.S. State Department Sports Visitor Program. On June 20, 2023, at the Football Federation of Belize headquarters, U.S. Ambassador Michelle Kwan and Minister of Youth, Sports, and Transport Rodwell Ferguson presided over a ceremony in honor of the participants ahead of the team’s departure on June 21.

Ministry of Transport Hosts Public Ground Transportation Workshop

Stakeholders of the Public Ground Transportation sector in Belize participated in a knowledge transfer workshop in Belmopan from December 5 to 8, 2022. The sessions were facilitated by Steer Consulting Firm with focus on policy, legal review, and updates of transport-related laws, while Transconsult provided details for the routing, scheduling and ticketing models.

Belize Attends the 10th Ministers of Youth Forum

Hon. Rodwell Ferguson, Minister of Youth, Sports & Transport, returned to Belize after attending the 10th Ministers of Youth World Forum in Busan, Korea from July 7 to 9, 2022. The forum was organized by the International Youth Fellowship Program (IYF), which brings together over 26 youth and education policymakers from 25 countries around the world to discuss the issues and solutions to youth challenges. The forum is held annually as part of the IYF’s World Culture Camp.
