Regional Meeting of Rural Youth in the SICA Region
The purpose of the meeting is to dialogue and agree on action measures within the strategic framework 2022-2030 to promote the inclusion of rural youth according to conditions and specific priorities of the countries of the region, with a view to achieving development programmes with more relevance, inclusivity and sustainable rural programs for rural youth.

CEO Servulo Baeza attended meetings in Panama, including the first ordinary meeting of 2022 of the Consejo Agropecuario Centroamericano (CAC), or Central American Agricultural Council, in Panama. The meeting features presentations on the present state of agricultural trade in Central America; regional policies for micro, small and medium enterprise development; presentations from IICA, the Inter American Institute for Cooperation in Agriculture; regional advances in biotechnology; approval of the sub-regional plan for Peasant, Indigenous and Afro-descendant Family Farming in the Region; as well as messages from the regional FAO director.

Ministry of Agriculture and DFC Sign Technical Partnership to Better Serve and Provide Financing to Farmers
On Monday, September 20, 2021, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise (MoA) and the Development Finance Corporation (DFC) signed a Technical Partnership Agreement (TPA) enabling the two institutions to more effectively share knowledge, information, expertise and support the efficient provision of financing to Belizean farmers and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME).

Cabinet Brief for 17th June 2021
Cabinet approved a request by the Ministry of Health & Wellness to increase efficiency of revenue collection at government-run hospitals by standardizing fees across the public health facilities and implementing a social program for low-income earners and the indigent population. Additionally, Cabinet approved the promotion of 37 essential nurse specialists in all categories and welcomed the initiative by the ministry to grant 50 Scholarships for persons wishing to study nursing.

Cost of Production Survey Design and Business Modelling for Small Farmer Public-Private Partnership for Value Chain Workshop
The Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) hosted a one-day workshop on Cost of Production Survey Design and Business Modelling for Small Farmers under the project “Sub-regional Capacity building in Sustainable Food Systems and Value Chain Development”. The workshop was held on February 25 at the National Agriculture and Trade Show Grounds Conference Room in Belmopan.
