Guatemalan incursion on the Belize side of the Sarstoon River

The Ministry of National Defence and Border Security hereby informs the public that on Sunday, September 18th, 2022, a joint Belize Defence Force and Belize National Coast Guard patrol deployed to the Sarstoon and encountered five Guatemalan Armed Forces maritime vessels on the northern side of the Sarstoon Island.

Belize Defence Force Senior Officer Conference 2022

The Belize Defence Force (BDF) in coordination with the Ministry of National Defence and Border Security held its annual Senior Officers Conference from August 30 to September 1, 2022, at the Colonial Hotel in Hopkins village, Stann Creek District.

BDF to Receive Troop Lifting Vehicles and Office Equipment

On August 26, 2022, the Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of National Defence and Border Security signed two contracts valuing BZ$3,005,328.16 for the purchase and delivery of 10 troop lifting vehicles and office equipment for use by the Belize Defence Force (BDF).

Engineers Conduct Site Survey on Sarstoon FOB

On July 29, 2022, the Ministry of National Defence and Border Security, along with a team of engineers, visited the Sarstoon Forward Operating Base (FOB) in the Toledo District. The visit follows reports concerning the integrity of the FOB due to erosion. During the visit, engineers conducted a site survey and collected data with a view to make recommendations for immediate and short-, medium- and long-term improvements. Once the engineers present their recommendations, the ministry intends on tabling before Cabinet for consideration.

Ministry of National Defence Hosts 6th Multinational Security and Cooperation Conference

From October 28 to 29, 2021, the Ministry of National Defence and Border Security hosted the 6th Multinational Security and Cooperation Conference at the Price Barracks in Ladyville.

IOM Belize hands over food items and cleaning supplies to the Ministry of National Defence and Border Security

On 19th January 2021 The International Organization for Migration in Belize handed over food items and cleaning supplies to the D’Silva Camp, a quarantine facility for irregular migrants located at the Mountain Pine Ridge forest reserve.
