Learn how to dance Flamenco; limited spaces available

A collaboration between Miss San Pedro Mariel Calderon’s “Empow.Her” foundation and Flamenco dance instructor Lorena Ayala is offering the opportunity to participate in a fun and cultural dance session on Saturday, February 3rd, from 6-7PM. The dance session will be held at the San Pedro Dance Academy studio on the second level of the Lions Den on Barrier Reef Drive. Even though participation is open to the general public, only limited spaces are available. The cost is $35 to cover overhead expenses. Hunter B team tops the 2024 La San Pedrana Wahoo Fishing Tournament

The top team at the second annual La San Pedrana Wahoo Fishing Tournament was Hunter B, with a heavy 114.2-pound fish catch. The tournament, held over the weekend of January 27th and 28th, saw over a dozen teams competing for the grand prize of $10,000. The tournament also included other fabulous prizes for second and third place and the top angler of the Wahoo challenge.

San Pedro welcomes 2024 with a lively and fun celebration

The annual activities to usher in the New Year in San Pedro saw many island residents heading to the Honourable Louis Sylvester Sporting Complex to welcome 2024. The yearly extravaganza organized by the San Pedro Town Council (SPTC) included an entertainment program featuring locals Deejays (DJ), one of Belize's popular bands, Gilharry 7, and a spectacular fireworks display.

On Saturday, December 2nd, islanders were treated to Central Park’s yearly and cheerful Christmas Tree lighting event. Hosted by the San Pedro Town Council, the festivity brought the joy of the festive holidays under the theme ‘Illuminate the Island with Holiday Sparkle.’

SPHS crowns first Reina de la Banda Zsapphirrah Coleman

On Saturday, November 25th, the San Pedro High School (SPHS) started an annual tradition dubbed La Reina de la Banda. The first pageant of its kind saw five participants delighting in a packed Angel Nuñez Auditorium along with several dance performances. They all competed for the coveted title, but in the end, it was Zsapphirrah Coleman who claimed the crown as the first SPHS’s Reina de la Banda 2023-2024.

San Pedro honors the country with annual pre-Independence Day ceremonies

The anticipated pre-Independence Day celebration in San Pedro Town was held at the Honourable Louis Sylvester Sporting Arena on Wednesday, September 20th, with thousands of islanders in attendance. This year, San Pedranos joined Belizeans nationwide and abroad in celebrating Belize’s independence anniversary under the theme ‘Hope Ignited, Hands United, Vision Reviewed: Belize @42! The traditional event included cultural presentations, speeches, and the official flag-raising ceremony at midnight, ushering in Belize’s Independence Day-September 21st with a grand fireworks spectacle.

Island students show their love for the country during Children’s Rally 2023

On Friday, September 15th, students across Belize participated in the annual Children's Rally. In San Pedro Town, the patriotic event, part of the September Celebrations, the San Pedro Roman Catholic School (SPRCS) students participate in a colorful parade through the main streets. The San Pedro High School (SPHS) student body and upper-division students from other schools across the island enjoyed activities at the Angel Nuñez Auditorium.
