IDB Group Presents its New Value Proposition

On March 1, 2022, the Government of Belize participated in the Preparatory Meeting with the Inter-American Development Bank’s (IDB) Governors of Belize, Central America, Haiti, Mexico, Panama, and the Dominican Republic. The IDB Group presented their analyses on the New Value Proposition: “Social Inclusion Agenda + Private Sector Investment + Climate Action = Sustainable and Inclusive Growth”.

CEO Servulo Baeza attended meetings in Panama, including the first ordinary meeting of 2022 of the Consejo Agropecuario Centroamericano (CAC), or Central American Agricultural Council, in Panama. The meeting features presentations on the present state of agricultural trade in Central America; regional policies for micro, small and medium enterprise development; presentations from IICA, the Inter American Institute for Cooperation in Agriculture; regional advances in biotechnology; approval of the sub-regional plan for Peasant, Indigenous and Afro-descendant Family Farming in the Region; as well as messages from the regional FAO director.

Belize’s U-18 Football Team sub-champions of the UNCAF Tournament

The Belize Under (U) 18 Football Team return to the country on Monday, October 28th with Silver after becoming the sub-champions of the Union Centro Americana de Futbol (UNCAF) tournament held in Costa Rica. The U-18 Jaguars fell short against the host, Costa Rica, 0-4 during the championship match on Saturday, October 26th.

With a newly motivated committee in place, the annual International Costa Maya Festival – Reignited is working on an exciting array of events, including the highly anticipated Reina de la Costa Maya pageant. The 2019 International Costa Maya Festival pageant is set to take place on Friday, July 26th at the Honorable Louis Sylvestre Sporting Complex in San Pedro Town.

The event had participation of the delegations from Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and the Dominican Republic as well as, the General Secretariat of SICA, as the Technical and Administrative Secretariat of the Commission.

Belize joining other Central American countries in Fisheries Research Project

Led by the Central American Organization for Fisheries and Aquaculture (OSPESCA), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations along with Mexico’s National Fisheries and Aquaculture Institute, the project is aimed at evaluating the fishery resources in Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama.
