Tour Guide course sees 40 new graduates
A class of 40 new tour guides graduated on Friday, May 20th, at the Rafael Angel Nuñez Auditorium. The program offered at the San Pedro Junior College and supported by the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) ended with a short ceremony where candidates received their certificates. The new graduates can now apply for their tour guide license to start their guiding career officially.

San Pedro Town welcomes 2020 in grand style with international entertainment
The island tradition of welcoming a new year with grand fanfare drew hundreds of islanders and visitors to the Central Park on Tuesday, December 31st for the big countdown. The annual celebration organized by The San Pedro Town Council (SPTC) included formalities, a spectacular fireworks display, lots to eat and drink, and the performance of Grupo Montana from Merida, Yucatan, Mexico.

Two additional fire trucks were handed over to the San Pedro Fire Department on Thursday, December 12th, bringing the current fleet to a total of four trucks.

An informative session to discuss the Justice of Peace Act was held on Wednesday, October 9th, at the San Pedro High School. Organized by the San Pedro Chapter of the Justices of the Peace (JP), the meeting aimed to get members of the local JP chapter more familiar with the Act and touched on specific areas regarding how a person can become a JP.

San Pedro’s Lighthouse Christian Radio Station observes 15 years of service
With its slogan “Shining the Light on Darkness,” Lighthouse Christian Radio 101.3FM has been providing a variety of Christian-based programming and music for 24 hours, seven days a week. The radio station is spearheaded by Pastor Clive Welsh, who is optimistic that his ministry will continue to positively influence the community of San Pedro, Caye Caulker, and across parts of Belize.
