The campaign resulted in 59 surgeries, including several emergency procedures, a limb amputation, and an eye enucleation. The initiative was made possible with the support of volunteers and donors.

Saga Humane Society Celebrates Grand Opening of New Facility

On Sunday, November 23rd, Saga Humane Society proudly inaugurated its new building on Sea Grape Drive in San Pedro Town, marking an important milestone in its 26-year mission to promote kindness and prevent animal cruelty. The celebration followed a busy and productive Saturday at the clinic, where the team completed several spay and neuter surgeries, handled emergencies, and continued progressing toward their annual goal of 1,500 procedures. Volunteers, supporters, and staff, including veterinarians Dr. Baptist and Dr. Heather, were recognized for their dedication, and the team also celebrated the birthday of clinic manager and vet tech Ingrid Lima. The grand opening event, held from 2PM to 5PM, welcomed community members who enjoyed tours of the new facility, an information booth, refreshments, and merchandise, including hats, t-shirts, and dog collars.

The Saga Humane Society hosted its annual Halloween Spooktacular fundraiser on October 26, 2025, at Caribbean Villas in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye. The lively event brought together residents, visitors, and their pets for an afternoon of fun, creativity, and community spirit, all in support of animal welfare on the island.

SPOT Offers Free Vaccine Clinics Across San Pedro

From June 30th through July 5th, the SPOT (Saving Pets One at a Time) initiative brought free vaccination and spay/neuter services to communities across San Pedro. This grassroots effort, led by Haley Adams, a veterinary educator from Arizona, USA, continues to impact pet health and welfare in Belize.

Adoption Day at Saga Connects Animals with Loving Families

On Saturday, June 14th, the Saga Humane Society opened its doors to the community for a special Adoption and Fostering Open Day. Held at the Saga clinic from 9AM to 11:30AM and again from 1PM to 3PM, the event aimed to connect animals in need with caring families willing to adopt or foster them. The initiative is part of Saga’s ongoing mission to improve animal welfare and reduce the number of stray and homeless pets on the island.
