Free Health Clinic Focuses on Diabetes Prevention and Early Detection
A community health clinic was held on Wednesday, June 3rd, from 9:30AM to 3PM at the Lion’s Den. The event brought together the San Pedro Lions Club, the Ministry of Health and Wellness, and the San Pedro Town Council for a day of free medical services and public health education.

San Pedro Lions Club Joins 85th Istmania Convention in Honduras
Six members of Lions International Belize Provisional Region 59 attended the 85th Annual Istmania Convention in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, from May 21–23, representing both the San Pedro Lions Club and the Sub Umbra Floreo Lions Club of Belize City. They joined delegates from seven Central American nations for the regional gathering.

Community Partners Lead Restoration Project at Boca del Rio Park
A large-scale cleanup and restoration project was carried out at Boca del Rio Park on Wednesday, May 27th, from 7:30AM to 12PM. The San Pedro Town Council, the San Pedro Lions Club, Alaia Resort staff and guests, local artist Karissa Vasquez of KV Creations, and more than 180 visiting members of Dassault Systèmes spearheaded the initiative.

San Pedro Lions Club spearheads Mosquito Coast Park cleanup
The San Pedro Lions Club organized a community cleanup at Mosquito Coast Park on Saturday, May 16th, from 7AM until about noon. The event brought together 14 Lions Club members and Lion Cubs, along with volunteers from several local groups, to clear litter and overgrown vegetation from the park and beach. Staff from the San Pedro Town Council (SPTC), Playa De Sala Boutique Hotel, Casa Boheme Art House, and Some Place South also participated in the effort.

Nigel Belisle Elected Lions Regional Chairperson for Belize
Nigel Belisle of the San Pedro Lions Club has been elected as the new Regional Chairperson for Lions Clubs in Belize. The election followed a recent convention, with Belisle set to take office on July 1, 2026.

San Pedro Community Rallies to Support Families Displaced by Fire
A devastating fire last week left 19 family members from San Pedro’s Eiley Subdivision homeless, prompting an outpouring of support from the island community. On April 28th, the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) led a coordinated response, distributing essential humanitarian supplies to the displaced families, who are currently staying with relatives and friends across the island.

19 left homeless after house fire in Eiley Subdivision
A fast-spreading house fire in San Pedro Town’s Eiley Subdivision left 19 family members homeless on Tuesday, April 21st. The incident occurred around 7:35PM on Marina Drive and involved a plycem and wooden structure measuring approximately 57 by 33 feet. By 7:47PM, when police arrived, the home was fully engulfed in flames.

The San Pedro Lions Club partnered with the Corozal Lions Club for a service mission in Sarteneja Village on April 18th and 19th. The visit marked the start of their Environmental Week of Service, which runs from April 18th to 26th.
