Island Businesses encouraged to take advantage of Health Screenings
To promote a healthy lifestyle in the community, Councilor Marina Kay, who oversees Public Health initiatives, has teamed up with the San Pedro Lions Club to organize a Business Health Screening event. This initiative offers essential health services at no cost, including glucose testing, blood pressure monitoring, malaria testing, and flu vaccinations.

San Pedro Lions Club hosts recruitment session in Caye Caulker
As the San Pedro Lions Club continues to grow its membership, it is also encouraging the establishment of additional branches in other parts of the country. On October 12th, club members visited the sister island of Caye Caulker to finalize details and officially launch their new branch in La Isla Cariñosa.

San Pedro Lions Club participates in Leo’s Forum in the Dominican Republic
From September 4th through the 8th, San Pedro Lions Club members participated in the International Leo's Forum held in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. San Pedro Lions President Nesher Acosta, Vice-President Lion Rosalyn Tzib, and Club Director Lion Marina Kay proudly represented the island and the Belize Lions Zone 59, to which San Pedro belongs. At the special event, they mingled and shared ideas with Leo and Lion members from Latin America and the Caribbean.

San Pedro residents continue to benefit from mobile health clinics
Promoting healthy lifestyles in San Pedro Town has been an ongoing project for the current administration. On Friday, August 9th, Area Representative Honourable Andre Perez and partners organized another Mobile Health Clinic. Held at Central Park in the downtown area, the initiative is a collaboration between Perez’s office, the San Pedro Town Council, PAHO Belize, the Ministry of Health and Wellness, and the San Pedro Lions Club. Throughout the day, island residents benefited from health services, wellness screenings, evaluations, and free consultations with medical professionals from the island and the mainland.

Everette Anderson recognized with esteemed Lions Club’s Melvin Jones Award
The San Pedro Lions Club is proud of one of its members, former President Lion Everette Anderson, for receiving the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellow/Award. The award, named after Melvin Jones, the founder of the international organization, recognizes outstanding individuals embodying humanitarian ideas consistent with the nature and purpose of Lionism.

San Pedro Lions Club hosts Board Member installation ceremony
On Saturday, July 20th, the San Pedro Lions Club hosted a ceremony at its Den on Barrier Reef Drive with distinguished guests, members, and friends for their installation of the Board of Directors. One of the main goals of the island club is to continue increasing its membership, serve the community at a greater capacity, and have an impact on the national effort to create more clubs and transition from a zone to a district. Currently, the governing body to which all of Belize's Lion Clubs belong is known as Zone 59.

Rotary Club of Ambergris Caye gives some love to Hope Haven’s playroom
The playroom at Hope Haven Children's Home and Empowerment Center in San Pedro Town has been upgraded thanks to a collaboration between the Rotary Club of Ambergris Caye and The Truck Stop. The renovation included freshly painted walls, new art and graphics, shelves, benches, toys, books, and even a chalkboard, all of which will enhance the children's experience in this special area.

Remembering Mrs. Martha Guerrero
The San Pedro Sun joins the island community in commemorating the life of stalwart Martha Guerrero. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Mrs. Martha passed away on Wednesday, June 5th.
