19 left homeless after house fire in Eiley Subdivision
A fast-spreading house fire in San Pedro Town’s Eiley Subdivision left 19 family members homeless on Tuesday, April 21st. The incident occurred around 7:35PM on Marina Drive and involved a plycem and wooden structure measuring approximately 57 by 33 feet. By 7:47PM, when police arrived, the home was fully engulfed in flames.

The San Pedro Lions Club partnered with the Corozal Lions Club for a service mission in Sarteneja Village on April 18th and 19th. The visit marked the start of their Environmental Week of Service, which runs from April 18th to 26th.

Easter Fun Brings Families Together in San Pedro
San Pedro kicked off the Easter holidays with two family-friendly events tailored for children. On April 1st, the San Pedro Library hosted a free Easter egg hunt organized by librarian Luisa Parchue. Then, on April 4th, the San Pedro Lions Club hosted its annual Easter Bunny Brunch at the Lions Den, featuring goody bags for children, games, brunch, and a visit from the Easter Bunny.

Belize Lions Clubs Aim for 400+ Members by June
Lions Clubs across Belize aim for at least 400 members by June 2026 as part of a national effort to expand local service clubs and elevate Belize from a provisional region to a full Lions Clubs International district. The initiative involves volunteers, newly formed clubs, and community projects in areas such as San Pedro, Caye Caulker, and Sarteneja, coordinated under Zone 59.

Lions from across Belize gather for 47th Zone 59 Convention
The 47th Annual Lions Zone 59 Convention brought Lions, Leos, and Cubs together from March 6th to 8th at the Grand Resort and Residences in Belize City. Hosted by the Sub Umbra Floreo Lions Club, the event united members from across Belize under the theme “Lions Serving with Purpose: Bridging Cultures, Empowering Communities and Inspiring Generations.” Key activities included elections, awards, cultural displays, a parade, and the revival of the Miss Lions Belize Queen pageant on March 7th.

Lian Rivero Crowned San Pedro Lions Queen 2026
The San Pedro Lions Club hosted the coronation of Lian Rivero as the new Miss San Pedro Lions Queen 2026 on Thursday, February 12, at the San Pedro Lions Den. The event welcomed guests, including Little Miss San Pedro Ema Lopez and San Pedro Town Councilor and Lions Club member Marina Kay, who served as mistress of ceremonies.

BCVI Continues Eye Care Outreach with First 2026 Clinic in San Pedro
The Belize Council for the Visually Impaired (BCVI) held its first monthly free eye checkup outreach of 2026 on January 7th and 8th at the Lions Den in San Pedro. The clinic operated from 9AM to 4PM on Wednesday and from 9AM to 2PM on Thursday. Led by optometrist Dr. Nesani Glori and optical assistant Elia Slusher, a 24-year BCVI veteran, the outreach provided comprehensive screenings, including visual acuity testing and referrals for conditions such as cataracts and diabetes-related eye complications.

Rotary provides wheelchairs to those most in need
15 deserving island residents received brand new wheelchairs through a partnership between the Rotary Club of Ambergris Caye and Chair The Love during a distribution held over the weekend. The donation coincided with the Christmas season of giving and formed part of a nationwide effort that delivered 260 wheelchairs across Belize.
