San Pedro Lions Club hosts a successful Sip and Paint Fundraiser!

On March 15th, the San Pedro Lions Club transformed its venue into a vibrant art studio for a Paint and Sip fundraiser. This event raised crucial funds to support childhood cancer treatment and vision care for underserved children. The sold-out event attracted 27 attendees, each of whom was celebrated as a “special guest” for their contributions to these important causes.

The Rotary Club of Ambergris Caye and the San Pedro Lions Club provided additional monetary assistance to the fire victims on December 29th. On Wednesday, February 19th, the clubs met briefly with the recipients at the Lions Den on Barrier Reef Drive. Those in attendance received financial contributions to support their recovery following losses.

On January 24th, the San Pedro Lions Club provided additional monetary assistance to the victims of the December 29th fire. The club has diligently organized fundraisers and successfully raised a total of $8,000, which was distributed among the affected families.

San Pedro holds massive trash collection in observance of National Clean-Up Day

On Saturday, January 18th, hundreds of islanders joined thousands nationwide for National Clean-up Day, organized by the Department of the Environment. In San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, various groups focused on cleaning different areas, including the southern part of town, downtown San Pedro, the Boca del Rio beach area, the northern road, and the Bacalar Chico sea turtle nesting beaches in the north part of the island.

The San Pedro Lions Club organized another fundraiser to support families affected by the fire on December 29th. Held on January 15th, the event featured a barbecue and a clothing sale. All proceeds will be distributed equally among the 12 families still working to recover from the devastating fire. The club remains committed to helping those in need.

On Saturday, January 11th, the Staines family, along with friends, staff, and members of the San Pedro Town community in Ambergris Caye, gathered to lay to rest their beloved matriarch, Marcela Elvia Staines, affectionately known as Doña Elvia. She was a pillar in the local tourism industry and the proud founder of the renowned award-winning Elvi’s Kitchen, considered one of Belize's best restaurants, cherished by Belizeans and visitors alike.

Humanitarian efforts for December fire victims continue

Efforts to assist the twelve families who lost everything in the fire on December 29th are ongoing in San Pedro Town. The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) and local groups such as the Rotary Club of Ambergris Caye, churches, and the San Pedro Lions Club have been collecting clothing and monetary donations.
