Police detain suspects in San Pedro triple murder

Police have identified three suspects in connection with the triple murder that occurred on Thursday night, March 19th, south of San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye. Authorities responded to a shooting incident at a location known as Mosquito Coast, where they discovered the lifeless bodies of Karim Nazim Espat, 29, and Oscar Modesto Mas, 35, inside an elevated wooden house. A third victim, identified as Honduran national Yerlin Marisol Bueso Alvarez, was found injured. She was transported to the Dr. Otto Rodriguez San Pedro Polyclinic II, but later succumbed to her injuries.

No arrests made yet following Armed Robbery at Liquor Store on Coconut Drive

San Pedro Police are investigating a broad daylight robbery at a liquor store located on Coconut Drive on March 5th. Two men wearing ski masks and hooded jackets reportedly held employees at gunpoint and stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the cashier register and a safe. Before leaving the establishment, the suspects locked the staff inside an office. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Jorge Valladarez Arraigned for Sexual Assault; Released on Fine

Following an incident on February 8th involving a 24-year-old female receptionist outside a downtown hotel in San Pedro, 18-year-old Jorge Valladarez was detained on March 3rd and later charged with sexual assault. He was arraigned at the Magistrate’s Court, where he pleaded guilty to the offense.

Police Present National Report; Major Crimes Drop in San Pedro

The Belize Police Department reported a 1% reduction in major crimes nationally for 2025, according to figures presented at the National COMPSTAT Meeting held on January 22 at the Police Training Academy in Belmopan. The report showed a decrease from 1,098 major crimes in 2024 to 1,086 in 2025. In San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, a 10% reduction in major crimes was recorded.

Police Investigate Fatal Motorcycle Crash Involving Roadway Obstruction

Police are continuing their investigation into a fatal traffic accident in San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, involving a motorcycle on Monday, January 19th. The rider was traveling toward the DFC Subdivision when he reportedly collided with a mound of sand and gravel left on the roadway.

Two Charged with Attempted Murder Following Brutal Attack on Businessman

Following investigations into an attempted murder and robbery that occurred on December 17th along Laguna Drive in San Pedro Town, police have arrested and charged island residents Charles Gabriel Sho and Thomas Alfonso Arriola with the crime of Attempted Murder.

Police Investigate Armed Robbery and Arson at Crown Game Shop

A Chinese businessman was hospitalized following a suspected robbery and arson at the Crown Game Shop on Laguna Drive in San Pedro Town on Wednesday night, December 17th. Police reported receiving information at approximately 10:07PM about a robbery at the Crown Game Shop in the Boca del Rio area.

New Police Station for Caye Caulker; San Pedro Slated for Improvements

Following a nationwide tour, the Honorable Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries, announced several upcoming projects for police formations across Belize, including the construction of new stations. The first was confirmed on September 18th in the southern community of Bella Vista. Other municipalities identified for new facilities include Santa Elena, Corozal, Orange Walk, and Caye Caulker.
