The Easter festivities on San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, provided several activities for those seeking to enjoy the annual holiday on the island. From the Passion of Christ play led by the San Pedro Catholic Church to recreational activities on the beach and the yearly kayak race to Secret Beach, San Pedro did not disappoint and welcomed hundreds of visitors over the weekend.

The decorated Olympic champion of Belizean ancestry spent a weekend at the Alaia Hotel south of San Pedro, where she and a group of friends had fun and visited several places on Ambergris Caye.

Road rehabilitation and solar lighting project to upgrade Secret Beach road
The road leading to the Secret Beach on the northwest part of San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, has recently seen upgrades. Some weeks ago, solar lights were installed, and on Wednesday, November 16th, the San Pedro Town Council said they were starting to rehabilitate the long stretch of road leading to one of the island's most popular tourist areas.

Tourist airlifted back to the US after golf cart accident
On her way back from Secret Beach, a tourist was involved in a traffic accident on Wednesday, July 7th, sustaining extensive head trauma. The female patient was assisted by Rickilee Response and Rescue (Triple R). She was stabilized and then transported to Belize City via Belize Emergency Response Team's air ambulance. On Thursday, July 8th, she was flown to the United States (US) for further specialized treatment.

Business owner charged for conducting restricted event; claims to have followed all health protocols
Well- known island business owner operating in the popular area of Secret Beach was charged for 'Conducting a Restricted Event' after holding a Valentine's beach activity. Â The accused entrepreneur is chef and proprietor of Pirate's Treasure Restaurant and Pirate's Not-So-Secret beach bar Maresha Reid, who is scheduled to appear at the San Pedro Magistrate Court on March 3rd. Reid claims she complied with all health protocols when her business held a Valentine's Day party involving a bikini model contest. However, police say the event violated the current Statutory Instrument (SI) on Public Health Regulations that went into effect on February 1st.
