San Pedro welcomes the September Celebrations with a flag-raising ceremony and street festival
San Pedro Town, one of the most patriotic municipalities in Belize, welcomed the month of September with the annual flag-raising ceremony that marks the beginning of a celebration that will honor many key events throughout the month, culminating with Independence Day. The beginning of the September Celebrations on the island also included the first-ever San Pedro Street Fest held on Barrier Reef Drive.

Children’s Rally brings colorful and patriotic parade to San Pedro Town
For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, students in San Pedro Town, their teachers, and other island community members celebrated a traditional Children's Rally. The event, held countrywide, saw hundreds of students marching through the central streets of San Pedro, dressed in patriotic colors and proudly waving Belizean flags.

Annual Flag-Raising ceremony kicks off September Celebrations in San Pedro
September is here, bringing with it the patriotic celebrations commemorating the 224th anniversary of the Battle of St. George’s Caye and Belize’s 41st Independence Day celebration. The patriotic month was welcomed across the country with the annual flag-raising ceremony. In San Pedro Town the San Pedro Town Council held the annual ceremony at 6AM on September 1st at Central Park. The event saw the presence of local authorities and proud Belizeans who together sang the national anthem while the flag was hoisted.

Belizeans Honoured with Belize @ 40 Prize
As a part of this year’s September celebration activities, the National Celebrations Commission established the “Belize @ 40 Prize”, which are awards created to celebrate and honour past and present Belizean creatives.

The winning theme was submitted by Precious Martinez, a 13-year old student of Sacred Heart College in San Ignacio Town. It reads:

2019 National September Celebrations Calendar Now Available
While the calendar is sought after for the listing of events such as the Queen of the Bay Pageant, Carnival King and Queen Competition and the various municipalities' Carnival Road Marches. It is also a guide to the many national events that show our patriotism, our appreciation of our historical achievements and our love for Belize. The annual listing of national, traditional, patriotic and festive events will be delivered and available in your municipalities by the end of the week.

National Song Competition’s Online Voting Begins Monday 29 July at 8:00 PM
The National Song Competition has completed the primary phase of the competition, all entries submitted have been reviewed by a panel of judges and the Semi-finalists have been chosen. This year’s competition will feature 5 Junior entries, 7 Carnival Song Seniors and 7 Belize Song Senior Finalists.

Nayobie’s Hope for Children Project held its annual fashion show fundraiser at the Sandy Toes beachfront restaurant in the Boca del Rio area. The event saw several junior and senior models gracing the stage featuring the different festivals held on the island throughout the year.
