San Pedro police officers and Caribbean Villas recognized by the Belize Police Department
On Saturday, January 25th, four police officers from the San Pedro Police Formation and a local stakeholder were honored at an award ceremony held in the capital city of Belmopan. Officers Hector Esquivel, Leon Bradley, and Elian Robateau were recognized for their courageous response to a fire that occurred on December 29th in San Pedro Town.

He reflected on their achievements, highlighting the importance of teamwork and dedication.

San Pedro Special Police Constables undergo training
A group of 12 Special Police Constables are undergoing training in San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, to enhance their skills and equip them with a basic understanding of policing procedures and current laws. This training is a collaboration between the San Pedro Police Formation, the National Police Training Academy, and the Training Planning and Support Unit. The sessions are held at the San Pedro Library from October 28th to November 8th. At the end of the two-week program, the Special Constables will receive certificates of completion.

A long-time resident of San Pedro Town, Victor Murphy, expressed his satisfaction with the San Pedro Police Formation after they successfully helped him recover his stolen belongings. San Pedro Police Formation strengthens community policing
The San Pedro Police Formation has been active in their weekly meet and greet sessions around the island. The initiative has seen Superintendent Egbert Castillo and other police officers engaged in efforts to strengthen community policing by visiting residents throughout the different subdivisions of San Pedro Town. At their latest meet and greet, the island police force visited the DFC area, where they learned more about the needs of the people in this subdivision and listened to their recommendations.

Superintendent Castillo comments on golf cart thefts on the island
Recently, there has been a troubling increase in the theft of golf carts in Ambergris Caye, causing concern among the island’s residents. Reports indicate a significant rise in cart thefts over the past few weeks. Stolen carts have been found abandoned in secluded areas of the island, with essential components such as the engine removed by individuals looking to make illegal profits. This criminal activity is suspected of being connected to the illicit trade of vehicle parts on and off the island. Residents affected by this issue are urging the police to intervene promptly and apprehend the perpetrators while also calling for increased vigilance across the island.

Five Police Officers awarded for excellent performance in April and May
On Friday, June 7th, five police officers attached to the San Pedro Police Formation were recognized for their outstanding performances during April and May. The Officer Commanding of Division Four (San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, and Caye Caulker), Senior Superintendent Alejandro Cowo, presented the exemplary officers with their awards at the San Pedro Police Station. The police station Commanding Officer, Superintendent Egbert Castillo, and Deputy Commanding Officer, Inspector Darwin Serano, were also present at the award ceremony.

Two San Pedro Police officers and a Special Constable recognized
The San Pedro Police Formation continues to recognize the work of its members serving the island community. For February, they awarded Corporal DJenn Cayetano for outstanding leadership qualities. Julian Lopez was distinguished as Special Constable of the Month, and the Police Officer of the Month award went to Detective Constable Hubert Bermudez with the GI3 (gang intelligence) Unit.
