Drivers Reminded of Safety Rules as Schools Reopen in San Pedro
As the new school year begins in San Pedro, the Traffic Department is reminding drivers and residents to adhere to traffic regulations to ensure student safety and maintain the smooth flow of vehicles in town. The reopening of schools brings heavier pedestrian activity and congestion during peak hours to the town core, typically from 7AM to 8:30AM, 11AM to 1:30PM, and 2:30PM to 4PM, when students arrive and leave school premises.

Fire Drill Conducted at Sunbreeze Hotel
To enhance fire emergency preparedness in the hospitality sector, a fire drill was held at the Sunbreeze Hotel on Coconut Drive, near downtown San Pedro. The exercise occurred on Thursday, May 29th, shortly after 4PM. The simulation was conducted in collaboration with the San Pedro Fire Service, the Traffic Department, the San Pedro Police Formation, Island Emergency Services (IES), and the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) representatives.

Local Government reminds the public that Electric Scooters require a License
The San Pedro Town Council encourages the public to use green technology, keeping in mind that all motorized vehicles, including electric scooters, must be licensed, and registered at the Traffic Department, and the driver must hold a valid driver’s license from the Traffic Department. In addition, the Transport Department advises all owners of electric scooters (motorcycles) or people interested in using these electric bikes that it is crucial to abide by all driving laws before hitting the road.

The Sir Barry Bowen Bridge rebuilding in the Boca del Rio area is almost complete. Mayor Gualberto 'Wally' Nuñez shared that a formal inauguration would occur after all works on the structure are finalized in the coming weeks.
