The Belize Postal Service (BPS) is pleased to announce the resumption of all outbound shipments to the United States, effective January 7th, 2026, following the temporary suspension implemented in August 2025.

Belize Temporarily Suspends Goods Shipments to U.S. After Duty-Free Exemption Ends
The United States Government’s recent Executive Order (EO14324), set to take effect on August 29, 2025, is expected to disrupt shipping practices in Belize, particularly affecting vendors in San Pedro. The order, “Suspending Duty-Free De Minimis Treatment for All Countries,” eliminates the $800 duty-free threshold previously applied to low-value shipments entering the U.S. In response, the Belize Postal Service (BPS) announced that as of August 27, it has temporarily suspended all shipments containing goods to the U.S. until further notice. The suspension was issued due to regulatory uncertainty and the need for new compliance procedures.

Belize could see between $US200 and $US500 million in grant funding from an independent United States Government foreign aid agency called Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC). This funding, expected in 2023, would aid the nation’s economic development and last for five years.

More than 170K Belizeans to benefit from the Pfizer vaccine donated by the United States
Belize now counts with 111,150 doses of the Pfizer vaccine to combat COVID-19. The acquisition of the vaccines came through a donation from the United States Government, which is providing Belize with a total of 345,150 doses. The first tranche was delivered to Belizean authorities on Wednesday, August 18th, after arriving via a FedEx express cargo flight at the Philip Goldson International Airport.

OM signed Implementation Agreements to partner with The Child Development Foundation of Belmopan, Belize Red Cross in San Ignacio, and Humana People to People in Bella Vista to operate the Migrant Hubs in their communities to provide critical services and information.

U.S. Government to Donate Equipment to Ministry of National Security to Assist Counternarcotic Efforts
On April 23, the United States Government donated over $400,000 USD worth of communications equipment and Boston Whaler sustainment parts to the Belize Ministry of National Security. The donation is part of the U.S. Southern Command’s continued partnership with Belize and was funded by the U.S. counternarcotics program.

U.S. Embassy Hands Over Ambulance and Medical Equipment to Belize Coast Guard
Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Keith Gilges represented the United States Government as he handed over an ambulance, lifesaving medical equipment, and the two-year supply of parts and service equipment, valued nearly $128,000 BZD, to the Belize Coast Guard.
